I'm gald that the club has stuck to their guns and is able to, over this one.

The interesting point is what would rowley do if Huddersfield sack Watson and offer him double his money?!funnier things have happened! Lets stick to the facts, shall we: Paul Rowley is creating a fantastic team at Salford is in his own style of play and the board are backing him. Huddersfield's team in free fall. He's going nowhere.

I can't imagine bids hit 200k. There is no way he's worth 200k. I still think that if he won't extend then we should sell and I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen at the end of the year, which also gives us plenty of time to plan ahead.
It's also great to see the club not buckling to pressure and sticking to their guns. But let's not also forget that we need to find £1 million per year to break even and spend the cap. With the money raise through the share scheme and assuming we get £1 million from he government, it buys us one year and pays off a chunk of the debt we have.
Hopefully, the scheme provides a catalyst for bigger crowds and if we can get to and win a final this year that would be a huge boost going into next season. We definitely couldn't afford to lose a prop at this stage if we want to challenge thos year.

If we or the City get money from the Gov, I don’t think it can be spent in the team; there will be strict guidelines. The £350k+ raised presumably will see us wipe out existing debts and possibly have a few bob in reserve
The ‘new elected’ Board now has the responsibility to raise those funds; not easy as the old Rosler Board found; unless Andy Rosler does go round on his bike each day and get that £1 off everyone as he alluded to.
That’s the challenge for the Community Board, so hopefully it’ll be composed, not of just enthusiasts, but those with an ability to generate income at a good level.
Interesting times

I applaud the stance but if the numbers mentioned are true then is it a good decision?Sticking to your guns is good if it has a purpose!
That's a lot of money for a young player and one that may go either way as he has limited experience.
I guess its sensible if :-
1-We can't re-invest the money in the squad or
2-There aren't any suitable replacements available.

I think this is the point it’s not like it was 50000 it was 200 grand and that was the real figure hand on heart even as Salford fans would you have took the deal?!the guy has played 30 odd super league games but it really is a catch 22 I think if this had been pre season with players available we may have cashed in but there’s no one out there at the minute unless an overseas was available plus other clubs would know we have that money so there players value goes up if we wanted them!

£200k now is hard to turn down but you’d prob be looking at an extra £50k a year wages at least for as good a prop to come in and hit the ground running. Probably more. So it soon gets eaten up. I am sure they will have tested the market to see if there were any serious alternatives

They can't win with this. If the club sold him everyone would be up in arms. Now that it looks like they have held onto him everyone's questioning whether they should have cashed in.
Personally Im glad the club have held firm, I wanna watch the best players at Salford. Not bothered about the cash, that's what the recent share issue was for. Now the money is sorted I just want to focus on the rugby and the quality of players.
Don't want us to fall into football nonsense where everyone is more bothered by the finance than the actual player quality
Dupree is out best prop and therefore I want to watch him in a Salford shirt

RR never miss a chance….🙃…more correctly the Club debt
But if that’s the case let’s hope the Club gets the right personnel this time

Been confirmed that the money generated will be spent on the off field side of things to increase revenue, the likes of commercial team, marketing etc. Money will not be spent on paying off the existing Koukash debt Given the IMG situation that is not surprising and probably the most sensible action. The investment proposal highlighted were the money would go and it's not players just community benefits. But hopefully the extra marketing, publicity, trained professional back room staff, community engagement etc will produce extra funds for players. If nothing else the funding we don't spend on the above will help, but it's no time to be complacent. This is just a clean slate for the new board, who ever they are, and they will still have there work cut out, be interesting to see who puts there name forward.

Presumably the funds will be held back for planning and spending by the ‘newly’ elected Board

Can we lock this thread, Dupree is staying for now and the latest comments rather questions warrant a new thread around the new Salford board and business planning.

I'm glad we haven't caved in at the first opportunity and sold Dupree, because it sends a defient message to other clubs and the player's agents that Salford are not the 'selling club' we used to be. Sell Dupree now and other clubs/agents will soon come knockin up our other assets. However, it remains to be seen what Dupree, Harris, Wigan and KR will do next, perhaps Dupree will be told to take his bat home and that we couldn't tolerate.
