This is a very important moment in the club's history. I was expecting this to contain some sort of caveat, like a 49% residual share for another entity, like Bundesliga clubs have, but as far as I can tell, this is 100% fan owned. The principle of one share no matter the size of the investment, and one-vote-one-share means every fan's voice is equal, rich or poor. It's a quite remarkable socially equitable model, and goes far beyond what I was expecting.
It is a risk, but so is doing nothing, and I commend Paul King and the board for their bravery and lack of egos in attempting this.
My mate who is a Leeds fan is intending to chip in on principle. He thinks all clubs should be run like this and is willing to back us to succeed.
I would go as far as to say that if we make a success of this model, it could ultimately transform rugby league in this country. This is an experiment that a lot of other clubs will be watching very closely, and if it works could be the catalyst for major positive change in the game. The game as a whole would benefit hugely from this being a success. The number of clubs who have a moment in the sun with a rich owner, and then struggle terribly when they get bored or die or sell up is high. It's a rollercoaster ride, and this model offers stability. What will Hudds do after Ken Davey? What could clubs like Bradford be with this kind of model?
I will be investing at the end of May as I'm a freelancer, and after a couple of bad months, have a run of good work coming up then!
Up the reds.

I'm looking at what things I could possibly sell so I can purchase a share.
You only need one kidney apparently so I'll give send you a link to the dark web. That's probably Β£5k-Β£10k I reckon.π I was going to suggest selling your body but not sure that's PC these days (like that's ever stopped meπ). PS. I had no idea who that Roger chap was until I Googled him. Is he well known locally?

I hadn't heard of him either until I Googled. Great of him to get involved. I don't know if he is someone who attends games or not, but it's great to see a local businessman willing to back the club.

The reality in this country is that sport is very reliant on rich owners and it isn't viable. Look at the debt in RU, it's immense and a couple of clubs went into administration. It's happened in football too. Far too many clubs live beyond their means and I don't think it should be allowed, for the safety of the sport - okay if a backer wants to donate money, fine, but more often than not it's a director loan. How many Super League teams are genuinely viable without a backer? Wigan, Leeds, Saints I'd guess. Possibly Hull with 10k crowds, but it's known Pearson has put money in. Where will teams like Leigh, Hudds, Catalan, and Warrington be if their backer walks away? I'd guess they'd rapidly be in serious trouble. It's a terrible business model for the long-term sustainability of the sport.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Bundesliga type rule enforced across RL. It's 50% + 1 share to ensure that the fans always have the majority vote. We'll be 100% owned by the fans. But, theoretically, could choose to go to a 50% + 1 share model if there was commercial interest in the future. Obviously, fans would have to vote for it - it's a change of purpose and model. Then as a body we would own 50% + 1 share, keeping control, and could release the rest of the equity.

Read this: St. Pauli opens its home matches with "Hells Bells" by AC/DC, and after every home goal "Song 2" by Blur is played. We could do with some identity like this. A songs that plays before entry that the fans can get behind. Sowmthihg else for when we score a try. Something that can be played during a little break in play when the game is a bit flat to gee up the crowd and players.

We need to try and make us different from other super league clubs a bit like Leigh are doing with there entertainment so the above suggestion is brilliant, let's have no silence during games, always summat to be played when theres a stoppage in play

I mean check out how many "fairytale" posts there are about little old penniless Wrexham FC on there the last few days.π Us small sports clubs seem all the rage! I've got my ex-pat mate who's over in Perth to sign up as well. He didn't need much persuasion thankfully.π

I have just got my Community Shares, we are at 38k - to get to over 40k of funding within 24 hours will be a fantastic start, however we need to continue to bang the drum and raise our Community cause.

Yep, I haven't seen anything news wise, which is surely to come from the various outlets. With the tripe they publish these days, which is often a couple of sentences followed by tweets and Instagram comments from elsewhere, surely we deserve some press.
