As we head into 2023 with the new season approaching what do you think our team will be v Lobbygobblers away? We have Watkins and Brierley missing for a few months (Possibly until March), I'd go with this lineup v Leigh away.
1 - Sarge 2 - Sio 3 - Cross 4 - Lafai 5 - Burgess 6 - Croft 7 - Syned 8 - King V 9 - Ackers 10 - Olmondroyd 11 - Wright 12 - Stone 13 - Partington
Subs - Dupree / Greenwood / Gerrard / Atkin
(I have a feeling that Sidlow may get the 8 Jersey this year and be a starting Prop but we shall see). The squad for 2023 looks heavy with Back Rowers, I assume Greenwood and Partington may cover Prop, for me I'd like to get one more Prop in for the season.
Given the players currently available this team should beat the newly formed Team of Leythers and spoil Dereks party.

Think I’d go with the same team and as you say I can see greenwood playing prop this year. Would be a bonus to get another big prop to come of the bench but still that’s a good team.

Don't fancy Sarge starting at FB. Can see his head going again. Would let Burgess or Sio have a crack instead.

I wouldn't mess with the wingers and centres. They are the best two combinations in the league imo. Atkin would do a job at full back with Sarge on the bench.

Sarge is a given at FB he’s prone to errors but his carries and defence are good. Centres, wing and halves pick themselves starting props as well King and Ormondroyd. Back row Wright and Stone 13 will be interesting but can see Gerrard starting there which he was great last season at. Dupree definitely in the 17 probably bench with him starting some games depending on tactics and fitness with greenwood in there as well. Partington is definitely the most interesting one can be used at prop but has spent most of his junior and Wigan career being groomed into a 13

What are our options at Prop for this Game? King, Olmondroyd, Dupree, Gerrard, Sidlow as recognised Props with Partingon and Greenwood as cover or as Props for 2023.
We've lost 3 Props in Burke, Sita and Luckley with 2 coming in (Sidlow/Partington).
2nd Row and Loose is crazy we've got lots of cover - Watkins, Stone, Wright, Lannon, Dixon, Addy, Helliwell and Longstaff (Not counting Partington or Greenwood here).
Be interesting to see how the forwards are selected, I'd like another specialist Prop but Rowley may want flexibility with Partington and Greenwood stepping into those positions.

Wright also played prop last year as did Lannon Seems the Rowls style, mobile with speed and don’t underestimate Sidlow, he’s a big lad and a handful

At first I was underwhelmed with Sidlow and Dixon signing but when you look at their minutes played each season it kind of makes sense after Rowley was scratching around for fit players in the pack last year. Still think we might have a quota signing coming - the player's who have left must have released some cash - Escare, ET and Livett must have been on decent money.

Partington identified that he wants to be a ball playing loose forward, 13, extra middle or whatever it is these days.

Almost certain greenwood will be a prop this year, he has the size and could go well there. In regards to are last quota spot I’d be looking at Ava Seumanufagai or Emry Pere.

At the Beginning of every Superleague season,There is one tradition that has brought a good laugh for many Salford fans The Garry Schofield predictions Column, But I believe that the Bookmakers have been drinking the same stuff as Schofield, www.loverugbyleague.com/post/leigh-and-papua-new-guinea-star-edwin-ipape-favourite-to-win-2023-super-league-man-of-steel/There's no denying he's a good player but yet again Leigh are massively underestimating how big the difference between Scoring 60/70 points against part time teams to playing at St Helens and Leeds for example Can see it being a Battle against Relegation between them and Wakefield.

We deffo need cover at Prop either of the above would be welcomed or Napa although I am surprised Napa has not gone to Leigh. Hope we have news in the coming weeks.

I'm not sure we do, I think 6 specialist props with Partington as additional cover as well is more than enough. Rowley also doesn't seem adverse to playing a second row there for added mobility if required.
What is this insistence on using all our potential budget and spots on things we don't need?
Why not just wait and see how the season unfolds and sign accordingly. Give us more flexibility as we go. A season ending Injury to sneyd or brodie early on would definitely need plugging with a signing so would rather have that option available

Moving sr there isn’t the answer. We need are pack to be on the front foot to allow the likes of Croft and ackers to play.
