This article from the BBC implies the club know what is happening. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64038055 A Salford City Council spokesperson said: "The council and Coscos (stadium company) have been in extensive negotiations with partners about the sale of the stadium - but unfortunately we have not received a proposal which satisfies our aspirations for this great community asset. "We are now looking at other future options. It is important to note that we have been liaising closely with executives at Salford Red Devils and Sale Sharks who are fully briefed. So if this is correct the club know what is going on, though there is no mention of Gerrard's involvement or bid. We need Gerrard onboard in some capacity if we truly want to compete.

www.salfordreddevils.net/club-statement-aj-bell-stadium/In response to recent media reports, Salford Red Devils would like to make the following statement: “Salford Red Devils are aware of the council’s intention to purchase the stadium outright. “We are currently in dialogue to secure a long-term tenure that will present the club with the opportunity to increase match day controls and the associated incomes streams to ensure the long-term sustainability of the club.”

I'm not sure what the council's up to, apart from maybe increasing income streams in the light of Austerity mark 27 being just around the corner.
If they increase the rent though we'll have nowhere to go!

If they increase the rent though we'll have nowhere to go! Never going to happen. The council have backed the club for years (rightly or wrong ly) no way are they going to tie them into a contract to financially bankrupt the club and close it. No benefit to anyone

Well it could be light at the end of the tunnel, or it could be some bugger with a torch half way. I am in the half glass full camp and hope it’s the start of some much needed stability. Imagine the day when we only have results and players to moan about.

I used that Yawn URL above to see what Sale Pirates said " Our Staium" ? The debts of all those clubs were a right good laugh though. Those Kick & clap players must surely be sooo over priced!

www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/salford-council-aj-bell-stadium-25827131This is an interesting piece. I read it, of course, and it is political point scoring among other things. I had to laugh at the idea of Tories being upset cos there's a cost of living crisis. The one point he made that seems correct is it's not really a community asset but has his party close most community assets down it's not really got credibility. The MEN and RL is another point with this and if this was a Man U asset the story wouldn't even be covered.

I would suggest that Salford Red Devils have done more for the Salford Community than the Councillor who is objecting to the proposal.

The MEN is an absolute disgrace trying to create tension around the stadium decision. There is no real mention of the Seb Gerrard's bid or outcome moreover their article positions FC losing out (Does not mention their super small attendances) and gives the Tory Mouthpiece Garrido a platform. Gutter trash journalism at its very best - How about they at MEN Towers publish the actual facts once known or take the time to print good news like the community work completed by our club highlighted in this years Social Impact report. MEN will not print good news, Tabloid rag.

Agree the Tory's are not well liked in our region, however the angle of the story is very deliberate to be provocative and to undermine the decisions taken. Where is Seb Gerrard in all this does anyone know? He has been quiet since news broke.

Agree MTR the MEN is best used to wrap chips up. Lets see what Salford Council say as things progress, strange Gerrard is quiet, if it was a No then why just not confirm that.
