This statement on the Sale website seems to suggest that we're staying put:
“We have always maintained that taking control of the stadium is integral to the long-term future of Sale Sharks and that remains the case. But equally, we were clear that we wouldn’t proceed with any course of action until Salford Red Devils have secured a place to play.
“Salford City Council’s proposed agreement will enable this to happen while ensuring that the stadium remains the home of Sale Sharks.”

Now we need news from our club IT IS NOT DOWN TO THE CLUB TO ANNOUNCE ANYTHING.IT IS NOT THEIR NEWS TO TELL !!! They are a tenant that pays well below market rent. They have not put in a bid to buy the stadium so they have no news to announce. The next news should be from the Council outlining their future for the stadium. The Club will then be in a position to respond accordingly.

This does not make sense given the councils view on funding deficits?? They must be taking a long term view on the stadium if the council have purchased the stadium. Key question is what does this mean??

I wonder if Gerrard is collaborating with the council on this? He last tweet stated....
Sebastian Gerrard @sebgerrard
18 Nov Hello! Working hard with the council to make this happen. Very excited at a chance to keep the Red Devil’s in their true home & unlock their potential. Let’s make history together & remind everyone who the best club on the planet is! #TogetherStronger 👹👹👹
It may be a wholly Salford Council play here... Only time will tell and what it means.

Seems like good news for the Club Well done Maurice the Red and thank you for all your endeavours, for the Supporters Trust for their constant messages to the Mayor, to Seb Gerrard for putting a stop to the once inevitable and to all the supporters who helped Maurice get over his point.
The City has the Quays, the RHS Bridgewater plus many other iconic sites and now has a Stadium in which it’s leading professional club can show off its wares. Well done The City of Salford Council. To do this in such hard economic times shows great courage and strength.

Seeing as the stadium issue seems to have turned a big corner, so should this thread. I'll leave it open for further discussion as it all may be a moot point now, but the time may come when a new thread about all this may be the best idea. So anyone who fancies doing that, feel free to do so.

Great timing and hopefully the start of a prosperous era at the stadium. With AJ Bell not renewing the naming rights of the stadium I wonder what it will be called in the future. Whilst I’d love it to be City of Salford Stadium, it does seem an easy way for the council to recoup some money.
