Keith Fielding as a kid.he was our superstar.. Peter Williams, class centre, great hands and sidestep, always knew how to straighten up and commit the defender to the tackle before passing. A rare breed these days. Exactly why I chose Hesketh and Williams but Hesketh shaved it because is odd running style fooled more people more often. I chose Burgess ahead of other wingers because he turned Paul Charlton inside out twice in one clash, I chose Charlton because he still tackled him after spinning round 180 degrees after he'd been beaten. Amazing stuff where you doubt your eyes at what you just witnessed.

Totally accept that point about Hesketh. I wouldn't say antything to dismiss that. I could go through the various posts and make an argument about a specific player e.g. how could Neil Baker be better than Gary Jack but the whole point of this discussion is that it's subjective. Hesketh was a GB captain but I preferred watching Williams, ditto Burgess not Fielding Sorry you are right.I would also like to mention Jackie Brennan and also the fastest man I have ever seen in a red shirt in the 64 years I have been going.Wally Mccarthy.

I never saw another scrum half out play Jackie Brennan and very often those memorable tries are marked by a pass, a dummy and then a pass or something else provided by Jackie. When I didn't choose him it was because of speed which is probably why he wasn't picked at international level when he was certainly capable of performing on that stage.

FB: Gary Jack was class but loved watching Broadbent for his blood and guts attitude of never allowing a try. Special mention to Scott mahon who looked mint. Wingers: Hadley and buck Rodgers for me , thought Hancock was a big let down.. Centres: Williams and Naylor oozed class. SO: never watched Shaw so can't comment but revered by fans. Blackley for me. SH :Mark Lee, best rl brain on a pitch. Props: young and Terry o Conner Booker: Peter Edwards- tackling machine with good hands and pace. Alker annoyed me and offered nothing in attack. ALWAYS BEEN OUR WEAK POSITION. 2nd row:-buffer and Cartwright Loose:panapa
Mentions to Tex,Stapleton, Jodie, Stefan, cliff eccles and Arthur " the beast" Bradshaw.

Dean Raistrick for hooker when hookers had to hook! Kevin Ashcroft for me. For getting most swear words into a match or coaching session? (mentored at the murph school of inspirational half time talks) Just thanks to all who have contributed to this so far. Does anyone have a player/ team of all talents we've missed? Sort of reminds you why we turn up, doesn't it?

I would like to mention Sid Lowdon and a brilliant stand off called Ken Richards a Welsh international we had I cannot remember was it the late fifties or early sixties.
