Thanks but somebody said the Board were developing a Community Club with the City like Chester. Where does that fit in?

Ambition surely has to go hand in hand with income. We have to live by our means and if we're only getting 3 or 4k crowds then moor lane is suitable for now. The capacity doesn't concern me as realistically were not filling it, I'm just glad it's in Salford - just ask Swinton fans they'd bite your hand off to play there.

Red Rum I don't think they would I went to watch them today at Heywood Road about 1000 at the game they are doing work on that side. I was talking to a guy who lives in Swinton like me Swinton played at Moor Lane he didn't like,he said the council should have helped them we could off had a ground between us he thought. They will not come back to Swinton.

I wonder what Salford City think the AJ Bell will bring them though. I know long term it is that it gives them a ground suitable for higher level football but they had less than 1,500 on Saturday, the lowest crowd in all four divisions.

If Salford City got promoted to the championship and their was know Barton, they would not be allowed to play at Moor Lane.

If Salford City got promoted to the championship and their was know Barton, they would not be allowed to play at Moor Lane. Pretty much as above. Salford City planned to move in a couple of years following another promotion at least but their hand was forced by Sale citing their intent to buy the AJ Bell and the council and Peek's keenness to cut their losses. If SC don't throw their hat into the mix now Sale take the AJ Bell on their own and SC have nowhere to move to as no land (apparently) available in Salford to build a larger ground fit for Championship football. Potentially they could be joint owners of the AJ Bell with Sale and not move for a season or two (as fan base is still small) which has not been discounted. As for Moor Lane, there's not a cat in hell's chance you can develop further. It's a miracle they've managed to get a 5000 capacity stadium on such a small site. There's housing behind one goal, school at the other end and along the sides you have a main road (with site of biological importance, Kersal Moor next to it) and Neville Road, which is a main access route for the surrounding roads. Apparently there is also a covenant to say the ground cannot be built on for devopment purposes as it has to be used for sports which rules out the option of selling it off at a future stage and using the money to then help fund a community stadium elsewhere. The land at Castle Irwell/The Racecourse should never have been sold off for (massively overpriced) housing as that would've been a great spot for a community stadium but as always "Mr Salford's" money talked and the council willingly lined their pockets with it.

Apparently there’s a lot of work going in behind the scenes for the change in structure of the game; decisions in a few months. Private equity partners😩 , short sharp comps, mergers (inc Hull n kr) being talked about. Presumably from the end of 2022 there’ll be big changes…again

Like it or loathe it, I think he is right.

Lots of news about Sale helping Salford to find a ground and them being a Community Club….meaning…could be competition for local rugby talent into RU, rather than RL, aka….Farell and Ford
And still the RL doesn’t let us have an Academy; wonder if there’s some RU men helping make decisions?😉
