Couldn’t make the match but just seen the tries on Sky and the right edge of Pauli Inu Sio looks impressive

More than happy with the win last night although we made lots of daft mistakes ball in hand (anyone know WTF Atkin was doing when he made that break?😂) and some of the passing was shocking at times (sweaty hands?)
Defensively, not to concede a try for 65 mins was pretty impressive especially the period where we must have conceded 4 or 5 back-to-back sets in our own 20. Inu, Pauli, and Sio were excellent and the sheer power on our right size was too much for them to handle. Tui was a constant threat as was Escare as well. Some of the hits from Inu and Seb were awesome and the 3nd half one where Inu lined their lad up andcompletely mullered him was worth the admission fee alone.😁
Was Pauli's hit particularly late on Miller? Didn't look anything in it to me and I was sat on that side of the pitch.
Let's not get carried away though. As the Wakey fans have been pointing out/crying about on their forum... did we not know they had their full squad out and we were playing their U16's? It's a good job we had a full strength squad to choose from eh?😁

A few weeks ago most wanted Marshall's head. Two wins have cheered fans up but don't make Marshall a good coach. The Leeds game will answer a few questions and his selection will be interesting as he continues to baffle us. The team needs organising and a good kicking game. Relegation is now unlikely unless Covid 24-0 games intervene so its time to look ahead especially as we seem to know who's leaving

Decent win and although not a great game we did control is after about 20 mins Their tries came from a Lolohea intercept and then a knock on in our own 30 so we didn’t get opened up - they had a few missing but no more than us and still had their 2 starting halves and a strong pack so can’t really understand all the moaning We kicked early again in the first half and this seemed to pin them back which worked well , attack wise we still need more but we do some to have more in defence Interesting to see the side next week if we get the likes of Sarginson , Taylor, Burgess , Mossop and Wells back !!

I think Sarge has got another game to go hasn’t he? 3 games wasn’t it? So Leeds, cas and Wakey, should be ok for next week I think

Massive shout to Ackers who has been immense in these past few games. Really developed a very good running game

First time I’ve been present to see us win since Wigan home game in 2020. It felt good
To start with the negatives. Our game management is awful. First half they had a young lad looking into the sun. We kicked to him once. He dropped it (backwards). Every other time we kicked into the shade. Criminal. I could barely see sat behind the posts. How our players couldn’t recognise that option I’ve no idea. Tui started it on our first set when he had all day to put a high kick into the sun but did a nothing chip over into the shade instead
At the end we did our best to get Wakey back into the game. I’m not sure we completed a set after we went 10 ahead. The worst was Escare 20m pass to Costello who had a defender virtually stood on him. Could have cost us the game
Our short kicking game was poor. Don’t think one grubber beat the defenders. Again. Tui was very average I thought. I’ve been defending him all season but thought he was lucky to be in a winning team last night. Took the wrong option too many times. We were lucky another of his poor kicks ricocheted to Pauli for the try. He was busy around the edges and his effort levels are good. The chase of Ackers kick to win the drop out was superb and he was good in defence. But as a half back he can’t kick and can’t organise. A few people praised him but i couldn’t see it last night. He passed to Wakefield players 3 or 4 times
Pauli was good in attack but poor in defence. No need for his late hit. Wasn’t dangerous but was very late. I didn’t think he looked committed when the pass was made.
We made a lot of handling errors. Thankfully Wakefield made more and passed into touch so many times!
But all that said it was a really gritty performance. After the Warrington, Leeds and KR games I started questioning the teams commitment but you could see last night how up for it they were. Superb defensively in particular. Plenty of support with people pushing up at every play. The tackle on Fifita near the end was phenomenal. Looked a try all day. And Inu’s hit not long after was massive.
I thought Josh Johnson was especially good last night. Lots of big tackles and made metres with every run.
Luckley needs to get a bit smarter with his off loads or a bit better at executing them but he looks really promising. Aggressive in attack and defence and his off loads are a real threat
Lannon had another very strong game. He’s doing a good job as a middle
Escare still terrifies me but he had another good game and I think has earned his right to stay at full back
Sio was excellent again
And what can you say about Inu? His attitude drives me mad at times but he’s got something special. He scored nearly as many points in the last 2 games as the whole team did in the 5 games before that! Showed real leadership again.
Finally is the Halliwell Jones the away ground we have our best record at? If we do have to leave to AJ Bell and can’t use Moor Lane maybe we should ground share with the Wolves 😂

Agree with all of that except your critique of Tui. Otherwise pretty much as I saw it,although Pauli and Seb made a huge difference when they came on

He had a quiet month earlier in the season but he’s probably been our most consistent forward for a while now. Maybe I am being harsh on Tui. I think he was a major contributor to our poor start, he got better and was busy but always feels like he makes it up on the spot rather than implementing the game plan

Yeah i think with Patton and Hingano in the wings Tui hasn't really shown at all that he wants to cement his place. I don't think he was dreadful but clearly doesn't like to play to any sort of plan

And again I'll mention him but since ackers has developed his running game you can see Pauli has come on leaps and bounds
