I’ve said it before and got torn down for it but I’ll say it again. Lannon is a Championship player, a throwback to the Willows era of rubbish. He’s never been championship player before this year so he must be lacking confidence or isn’t fit enough. There’s a player in there somewhere. Whilst I'm not in the Lannon fan club (He is deffo not the new Paul Forber) I thought he performed better against Saints. For me the trouble with the pack is the number of workmanlike forwards who just do not make enough yards or line breaks. Greenwood, Pauli, Seb (when he is direct) tend to break the line. We are missing that big time out wide - Farrell is a master of this for Wigan. I hope Patten gets a chance to organise this week, let Aitken play 9 off the bench he not an organising 7. If fit Burgess can play fullback if Marshall does not fancy Escare. |

Burgess said at the test event last night that he didn't think he'd be fit for Saturday and more likely he'd be back for Wire.
That might be a smokescreen but if it's touch and go it may be wise to hold him back a week.

Jack Wells has not played for a while so he may get a chance. The issue I have is that lots of our forwards Lannon, Livett - when in 2nd Row, Ormondroyd, Wells, Johnson as a prop and even Taylor do not make too many yards in attack. They will all put in a shift and tackle but we miss the size to line break at times. Pauli, Greenwood and possibly Roberts the best 2nd Row options for this. Some of the responsibility to create the space for forwards rests with our 6 and 7 of course, but ultimately we have lots of forward options who are very similar.

Kear won’t be playing as he can’t afford to be injured as it’ll affect his future career
Does playing part time next month change that risk ?
Escaré on standby apparently as he relishes the chance to risk injury
