My bottle of red shall be all the sweater for that bit of news.
Great news and even more important than the hard fought victory

So much from the Hull Rumour Squad, well done Ian seeing sense, Hull is a dump. We mustn’t be complacent Watto still needs reassuring we can continue to get better.

Watto confirming he’s staying is the biggest win of the night. And we beat St Helens!!!
Sounds like discussions were quite advanced. But so glad he’s staying

It didn't sound that convincing to me tbh MR! He kind of bumbled to the summary that "now wasn't the right time with COVID etc". So yes he'll see out this season but I wouldn't say I'm 100% confident he'll be in charge of Salford at the start of next season. I just think it's more the timing of an announcement and anything coming out now would just be a final kick in the b0ll0cks for Salford fans. Maybe it's just the pessimist in me....🤷♂️

But I am sure he will be at Salford next season.

On the Hull board someone reckons that Wire are now in for Watto as well. Let's be honest, they're not exactly known as being frugal with cash so they wouldn't have a problem paying any severance fees.

No way will Gail Tyldesley (Price) leave Wires especially since the best centre in the world a few years ago probably coming.

Anyone got an exact quote? Missed the game unfortunately and some people are convinced yet others think it’s stalling tactics.

Rugby League is well known for not being an open and honest sport. The real thing I like about Ian Watson he's a Salfordian true to his roots. He work's tirelessly and he's totally open and honest. A jewel in this game. He's special as a person. No ego trips for him; doing a fantastic job is his reward. A lesson to us all.
I think now the Club has to be totally open and honest with him and everybody else. No false promises , no stupid statements that cant be fulfilled or validated. Just get a 5 year development plan together, about rugby, not about survival, and using the expertise of Watto and Blease; they're the rugby experts. And Blease should be on the Board representing the rugby aspects of the Club. Be realistically ambitious getting rugby sorted in the schools and area and let's start moving forward working with Watto and Blease to develop something special. And get the zFoundation aligned to the plan.
We have something special in Ian Watson. Let's work with him to develop something v special for RL in Salford and the area.

While good news, there's still a number of Clubs sniffing around. Clubs that would be more of a temptation to him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Wire in the future.

From LoveRL
Salford coach Ian Watson has confirmed his commitment to the Red Devils after rejecting an approach from Super League rivals Hull.
Speaking after watching his side snatch a 12-10 victory to condemn reigning Super League champions St Helens to their first league defeat since March, Watson confirmed he had spoken to the Black and Whites chairman Adam Pearson about his club’s coaching vacancy but says he will be honouring his contract with Salford.

Watson said: “Hull came forward and I can’t speak highly enough of them. They’ve been really professional and did everything the right way.
“They contacted the club asking if they could have permission to speak to me and the club gave them permission.
“I spoke to Adam who talked about what was important to him and his family at Hull and the Hull club and making sure they were right going forward.
“My concern are my players at Salford and, with the timing and the circumstances and everything else that’s going on with Covid – my girls are the in the final year of their A-levels and GCSEs – it’s probably not right for us at the moment.
“I’m flattered to be considered to be honest. As you go forward, you never know. I want to challenge myself and see how far I can go.
“I’d love to go and coach in the NRL one day but there’s a process to go through to get there and I’m still enjoying what I’m doing here.”
Watson, who in the last 12 months has guided the Red Devils to a maiden Grand Final and a first Challenge Cup final for 51 years, is contracted to the club until the end of 2022.

Let’s enjoy him whilst we can. He won’t be here forever unfortunately but I think we all know he is destined for bigger and greater things than Salford. Hull isn’t one of them😀

And get the zFoundation aligned to the plan. I’m not sure what you think the board comprises but, given that we’re not ICI,I think it’s a fair bet that Blease is totally au fait with all aspects . If he wanted a seat on the board it would be his,I’m sure, but I suspect they only have formal meetings a couple of times a year ,just to sign off the statutory documents. I’m really not sure where you’re going with this but there seems to be an ongoing suggestion that there have been false promises and the absence of a plan. Events tend to indicate the opposite
