Another triumph for making an even playing field by the RL I really wonder why everybody, including Sports Broadcasting companies, seems have so little faith in them So presumably if Catalan beat Wakey in the cup we go to France to play. Wonder what would happen if a team said no France ain't happening, we're just not travelling. Might force the RFL into an uncomfortable position when making a Toronto decision.

Just noticed that Leeds and Saints get to host more games going forward.
Not got a problem with this on the proviso that neither club benefits financially.
If they do it's obviously a huge conflict of interest.

To be fair this weekend will be Catalans 4th game in a row that they’ve had to travel here for. It is also a home draw for them and it’s being played in Huddersfield. Leeds and saints have both had games in their own stadium
I think the French government is starting to allow small crowds into stadiums so it makes sense for catalans to play at home when it’s safe and permitted

No sympathy for Les Cats.
You play in the UK league and you should expect to be billited over in Blighty for the duration.

Can't wait for the French derby Les Cats V PSG.

Where did you hear this? Sounds a little bit off -- Sky will want to draw as many viewers as possible because they need the ad revenue. Showing RL during a weekday doesn't make commercial sense... The tweet below was where I first saw it and Paul King confirmed it was true in a reply to someone. Blimey - surprised to see this is actually true. Still, from a Salford fan perspective better that it's on telly at a daft time than no time, under the current circumstances.

If they do it's obviously a huge conflict of interest. I was thinking a little bit about our situation with regards to this. Does anyone on here have a reasonable knowledge of the terms of our stadium deal? Is it pay-as-you-go or do we commit to paying rent for x number of days usage, or do we just pay a flat annual rate? I can see a scenario where for some clubs it's less that Saints or Leeds (in this case) might benefit financially (although I can't see how they really would given no crowds?), and more that other clubs might lose less in having to host their own games.

I’m sure Paul King mentioned it in one of the interviews that we were putting aj bell forward to host matches and we as a club wouldn’t gain anything monetary wise, but it would be beneficially for Stadium Company. So I assume as Saints and Leeds ground are their own they will benefit?

Sorry but if it's true clubs benefit from hosting games the RFL are allowing them to gain financially from the current situation.
Any profit should be put into a central pot for redistribution.

Genuine question, what would the financial benefits be? I assume they have to pay all the required support staff and they have no paying punters to balance that out. It gets some people back to work though.

It gets some people back to work though. You would hope that the RFL would pay the costs and bill all the clubs the same amount, that way any profits are split too.

Sky pay £25k to any team hosting a televised home game to offset a reduction in crowds, but obviously this doesn't make a difference at the moment. I wonder where the £25k per match (or £50k per weekend) is going?
I agree with MR, the only fair way to do this would be to split the overall profits. Warrington, Saints & Leeds should absolutely NOT be benefiting from hosting games in any other way than having a 'home' advantage.
It's a shame Salford haven't been given the opportunity to host games, we have 4-6 changing rooms at the AJ and the pitch is looking amazing at the moment. I imagine with Sale playing they're not as keen on hosting the games but who knows?
Going back to the start of the thread, I'd rather have the game on Sky so we can actually watch it (albeit at a crappy time), than it not be on TV but at a decent time.
On a side note, despite our Grand Final being the most televised Super League game ever and the broadcast figures looking strong and growing. It does appear we're heading for a worse TV deal from 2022 onwards, surely by now the governing body has realised they need to create competition with the broadcasters and allow the Championship the opportunity to negotiate their own TV deal?

Of course they know and that’s what they’ve been trying to do. Its a bit like selling your car,you want to generate interest but if it’s not there, then it’s not there.
