I followed the link and got to an old story that had nothing to do with covid but like most of this the silly immigration rules that reflect modern British attitudes and the politics of hostile environment. (Yes I know we're not talking politics but that's what most of this is about.)
You followed the rules to break the rules, or was it the other way round?
It will always be the case that things go wrong and people get the wrong of the stick to work with and you'd think SRD fans above all would be wary.
I thought you’d be able to work out that this is the same issue but from a year ago - evidence they did nowt following that. Nothing to do with hostile environments or politics- these rules have been in place for yonks and Aussies/NZers get a better deal than most. Hoping Toronto succeed doesn’t mean you have to turn a blind eye to shoddy business practices - a decent immigration advisor would have sorted this from the start. I’ll leave it there as visas are not exactly an entertaining subject.

From rugbyleaguehub.com
Bust-up We hear Tuesday's meeting of Super League clubs was a fiery affair as tensions mounted over the Toronto Wolfpack visa fiasco. The Wolfpack face losing all seven of their overseas players at the end of the month following the expiry of their six-month UK visas. It is understood that Super League executive chairman Robert Elstone made it clear to Toronto during the meeting that they are expected to complete their fixtures regardless of whether their overseas contingent are available. He cited the "participation agreement" of all Super League clubs and commitment to fulfilling fixtures. We are told that Elstone's stance provoked an angry response from Toronto's Martin Vickers, who made his feelings on the matter known to the former Everton supremo on the virtual conference call.
Visa fracas Rumours continue to swirl that most of Toronto Wolfpack's overseas players have already left the UK, meaning they are unlikely to play agin for the club in the UK this season Josh McCrone is believed to be in Australia, while there is also talk Sonny Bill Williams has also left England. All will need to be out by August 1, and then may not be allowed back in for 12 months. Blake Wallace is rumoured to still be in Canada, where he has stayed during lockdown. There is talk that the Wolfpack will get loaned up to 10 players from other Super League clubs to be able to finish the 2020 campaign.

Sorry but Toronto is a Canadian Rugby league club and as they have no Canadian players all should be considered overseas.
Farce, total and utter farce.
My guess is they will play without the 'overseas' players and bring in a load of fringe loan players and get thumped all season.
All safely in the notion that P&R is well and truly of the table.

Overseas rules are the same as for all SL clubs cos they play in super league Europe

To state the bleedin’ obvious, this makes the game look pathetic. SBW back to NRL until next season and other players being offered temporary deals in Superleague. In truth I’m not sure, without full facts, who is to blame, apart from Toronto obviously. League Express reporting they’re on the verge of signing a Halifax player. WTF

SBW won't be going back to the NRL; he signed for another Super League club for next season some weeks ago

Super League have made a statement now - basically Toronto said they were going to play less than a week ago and the closing line reads like there may be consequences for them.

If true this is shambolic.
They can't just say we can't fulfill the season we're off see you in the New Year.
For me throws the rest of the season into some doubt.
They might as well just restart the league.
