The new potential owner is apparently really playing down Argyle and stating it's SL or bust. Not really a business plan; but when did SL scrutinise business plans and not go for years hype.

Nowt to do With Toronto But Ottawa Aces Certainly Cracking on with there Recruitment They have announced the signing of Calvin Wellington Who Played for Salford on loan or on Trial a few years Ago, I Don't believe he made a Lasting impression !?!?.
If memory serves me correctly he was given The BOOT after a few games.

I believe it was the RFL and not SL who did the discussion and the due dilligence and at the time it seemed they'd done more than ever to sort it out. The RFL may explain it but much of the upset ignores the role of Covid.

I’ve just watched the 7 minute interview that Brian McDermott gave to Brian Carney last night. Whatever you think of the two individuals, not much probably,I thought the the questions were pretty tough and BM handled them very well. He’s a coach, not a politician. Due diligence of the new owners won’t throw much light on the matter, because there’s only so much you can do like check that the funds are there, and the new owners have a decent history for on time payment of bills. If given the nod this would obviously be their second and final chance. I hope they can stay in.

I thought Carney's questioning was on point, and McDermott was as diplomatic as he should be. I don't like McDermott and have little sympathy for him as he's been the first in the past to belittle and deliberately go out of his was to antagonize. As long as Noble and Vickers are sniffing around TWP I'd be very wary of their direction as a Wolfpack fan. It would be a shame to lose the support that they've built and whether you like it or not, they already have their name and image spread wider than most established SL clubs. I'm not convinced by the group that operate off the field for TWP, and I think that's where the shake-up needs to be to allow them to progress.

Draw a line under it. The minimum penalty should be 12 points, if the RFL have any standards, and I wonder which players will trust and join them, them in the future, even with the stupid salaries generally offered.
Argyle came out with the same easy talk being delivered now. Noble and Vickers, self interest and a history of failure.
Concentrate on what can be done in Europe first, properly establish the base and stop living off temporary dreams.

Concentrate on what can be done in Europe first, properly establish the base In fairness,we have been operating that strategy for a few years now !

Concentrating on spreading the word worldwide, the silver bullet, I think is the strategy. Toronto on my map doesn't appear to be in Europe.
Mcdermott says its proven to work in Toronto, which Isn't the case and you can't play there half the season. So it works if everyone aligns to their failings. He says there were big mistakes in strategy; well you have to pay for them as all other clubs have done (except Castleford and Wakefield). Not just get welcomed back when you realised you got it wrong, didn't pay players and contractually didn't complete your fixtures. I can't understand the hype, except that people see it as a good trip for a couple of years.
But of course Mcdermott wants to keep his overpaid job.

JJR , I respect your oft stated view on this. I don’t like McDermott at all and, yes,he’s only saying that to serve his own purposes but it was a tough interview and he handled it well. It really isn’t about a couple of pleasure trips to Toronto though,is it? They can’t overcome the weather, that’s quite right. I do think it will eventually fail,as I’ve said before, and they have just fucked up big time. They’re worth a final chance in my opinion but we’re never going to agree on that, which is fair enough.

We will always come to a point where we have to agree to disagree.
TWP are not the great hope in themselves, it will need far more than just a team in Toronto.
Anyone not happy with them being there is not going to be chuffed having them back.
Expansion is always viewed as either home or not, either or, and that's why we end up in the same place. We are a sport that throws the baby, the bath water, the tub,the soap and towels out everytime we try it.
As with the argument on scrums and more os less everything else two sides & no compromise.

BR i seem to have seen this scenario many many times and it ends in failure with bad press although Catalan still there. It all just seems wasted effort to me when there's so many other things to sort out. If they are re-admitted to SL there surely has to be a big penalty to be fair to the likes of us, Bradford and lots of other teams who've transgressed. I just dislike the hype and the grasping at straws mentality we seem to have. Eventually somebody will develop a ten year plan for RL, which is achievable affordable and gives stability. Then we might get good sponsorship funding. Russ ...scrums? you're right Carnster, we need the Russ Agony thread.

Russ ...scrums? you're right Carnster, we need the Russ Agony thread. What to call it though... The title and blurb will be...'Russ's Rugby League truss. A rugby league rebound hernia belt, straining under the pressure of sporting discussion. He cannot be contained!' Just kidding Russ! Don't make me moderate myself. Again!

I was just pointing out that discussion on a forum is pretty much a dead duck.

Would it be easier Russ if you just told us what to say
Watched a great RU match today; scrums slick. Perhaps we might try it?
