I don’t really understand the so called franchise system and I don’t see why buying the Toronto business would change things at the Thunder,as Toronto have been booted out. I’d welcome a strong NE team or a strong Cumbria team which has an established interest amongst fans. Just don’t see why this can’t be in addition to,rather than instead of North America or elsewhere in the world. Both.

This is because if people put them in opposition to each other they can accuse everyone who likes the idea of NA teams of not caring about the heartland which of course is as untrue as it is nonsensical.

We don't really have a franchise system as such, Toronto bought Hemel Stags and retired the team for a season and then took their place in the league at the lowest tier and gained promotion to SL, different to a franchise system.
For me if another team bought Torontos league membership a precedence has been set and they would have to follow the pathway Toronto did which wouldn't make any sense in Newcastles case.

As we all know a total shambles because we seem to make the rules and the plans up as we go along. If we had proper process and a strategic plan the lawyers would just apply the rules as in RU. It always seems a discussion between St Helens, Leeds and Wigan to identify the way out of the mire and the path chosen is the one that suits them. We're becoming a joke.

The main issue to me is that the thing we should be concentrating on is Covid 19. We should be on both knees for those who've lost their lives. 18M now have it worldwide and growing at nearly 1M per week. Deaths something around 700,000 CV 19 seems to be returning and I see equality as important but it's distracting us from what I see as the main issue. If it does return we should be concentrating on helping those in a lesser fortunate situation than ourselves, no matter what colour or creed. And keeping everything within the framework and safe. I think equaity is now recognised as an issue, but no matter how equal we are, when lives are at risk we need to protect them. We now seem to be getting complacent about CV and it's not good

Anti-expansionist told you so's and applause were always going to be the order of the day. Playing a nice blame game has become a mark of UK society.
At the moment this stands out but a quick look at a few businesses even strong and huge ones that are already downsizing and making people redundant because of the effects and future implications will tell you everything you need to know.
Seeing RL as distinct is part of the problem.

Not that we want or could afford any but Toronto’s remaining overseas players have been granted exemption from the quota by the RFL.

You could do worse than take Gary Wheeler as a squad player and I always liked the look of Gadwin Springer too.
I also wonder if we could tempt Darcy Lussick over if it might encourage Joey to stay beyond the end of this year, pretty sure they'd jump at the chance to play top flight rugby together.

The problem with Lussick and Leutele is they are on 3-400k a year.

The problem with Lussick and Leutele is they are on 3-400k a year. Which is very good if the club pays its players, LR. Perhaps some of their players may accept more modest amounts which they can rely on.

Some of the others might be more within our range.

MR wasn't it Ottawa who bought Hemel's membership which is why their position is totally different from TWP?
I could be wrong and probably am.
