Have heard no whispers but do have a gut feeling that there is more to Evalds leaving than we all know about right now, would be horrible if 1 of the best players in a red jersey in a generation was to have that reputation sullied somehow. No worries MR, he had big ears anyway!

That's just racist against jug eared types, next time they play Dirty Old Town at the Enormadome I'm going to take a knee in solidarity for all wing nuts world wide.

MR as you know in RL everything generally revolves around money. The team getting to the Grand Final and him getting a form of intenational recognition increases in some eyes, value. So presumably Blease over the past couple of years has had to negotiate with higher expectation from players and possibly less money. We will be a feeder club unless the Board finds a way of generating funds.

I think ‘that’ tackle, against Cas would have increased his value and his demand considerably.

Great tackle but from what I remember he was out of position to start with. Good player, good servant to the Club. He probably has his worth in his mind and others either don't match it of can't afford it.

Not really. He was in centre field. Cas threw the ball out to the left, a defender missed a tackle and he was through at speed. The tackle reminded me of Paul Charlton who encouraged the wingers to hug the touch line and Charlton would tackle them from behind into touch.

Sorry mate, Evalds quite good but not in the Paul Charlton class. Yes Charlton used to do that on purpose, from what I remember of the great Evalds tackle it wasn't the Charlton shadow tackle. Really like Evalds but always thought his defensive positional play not quite there at times; but we differ in view, no problem.

I agree that his defensive positioning is by far the weakest part of his game but he isn’t out of position here (I think we’d just coughed up the ball as well):

I think he certainly wasn't in the right position but more than made up for it.
I don't think I remember Paul Charlton being out of position defensively.
I remember Billy Burgess turning him inside out with a sidestep and Charlton seemed to pirouette to catch him and stop the try.

You’ve got to take into account we’ve just lost the ball in the tackle and Cas are playing on (I think that’s right) - he’s done well to get back behind the line so quickly.
I’m making no comparisons to Charlton here just think he’d have to be Mystic Meg to know we’d lose the ball and they’d immediately fling It left.

Evalds job is to track the ball across the field. To me he ambles across the line then realised what's happening and makes the superb tackle. But we all wear different glasses. But thanks for putting the video up. Great.

"To me he ambles across the line" I could only Dream of being able to amble and then Sprint as quick as Evalds, I doubt any of Us could have made the tackle even in our long gone youth. Probably.

Think the best since the move to the enormadome was by Patten against Leeds in the CC in 2012, can't for the life of me remember who he tracked back but the look on his face when not only did Patten catch but then steal the ball was priceless.

Brown on Withers was always my favourite mostly because nobody knew Brown had that much pace left in him!
