I agree that Flash was quality. McCarthy was also good but was having to do too much legwork early on because our front row went missing for some reason. When they sorted that we looked good until we got near their line. Too many mistakes and a couple of defensive lapses nearly cost us. First ten minutes of the second half was more of the same but then the ball started to stick. What a finish that was - reminiscent of last year’s game.
Apart from those two, Sarge, Evalds and Williams were excellent. Welham, Ikahihifo, Mossop, Brown and Tui all had their moments.
We still need to work on our attack close to the opposition line but we are getting there. Defence was much improved and we made multiple line breaks. It was nothing if not entertaining. Nice way to go into the enforced break.

A big part of our problems have been Watson not knowing his best side Now he does and Flash is fundamental

First half garbage, second half brilliant, once we decided that Wigan would crumble we grew in confidence, well done the lads....however where the hell did that announcer come from, God he was terrible.

What a comeback that was. I was feeling quietly confident before the game (but also thinking we might get pasted!). I thought we were trying to give Hull a run for their money in the first 15. After that we were the better team but kept cocking it up near the line. I was starting to think we’d never score til Evalds did his magic
And that tackle by Sarginson. Just wow
Flanagan was the difference though

I like many more did not see that coming at half time.We gifted Jacko a 4 pointer on his return I thought Wigan should have been further ahead at the break their fans were pie eating land. Then on the restart we started to play and Wigan did not look to impressive. The coaches team talk at the interval certainly produced the desired effect.Well done lads onwards and upwards.

Found on the Wigan board on RLFans....
Posted by The_Enforcer on Sat Mar 14, 2020 3:24 am Im wondering could the virus of affected the players concentration? It is mine, im thinking about it an awful lot. Dont under estimate the effects of what is happening at the moment.
Everybody just seems to want to get done what they have to and get home and lock themselves out of the way, Is it possible that Salford were just a bit more focused on the job in hand?
Anything to detract from losing to little old Salford again eh?😁 We were far from our best for a lot of that game yet still managed to turn them over. That group of 12 year olds stood next to the Pied Drummer of Pemberton have obviously been on the glue if they think they're anywhere near GF material.🤦♂️
They've got plenty of firepower in the backs and we all know what Jacko can do but their pack really is dog turd and George Burgess looks finished and a shadow of his former self.
Oh and nice to see the Wigan Walk in full flow again tonight. To leave a game 15 minutes before the end when you're 14-12 up is utterly shameful. Fickle bunch of tw*ts!🙄

Brilliant tactical change by Watto at half time, swapping the hand sanitizer for EvoStick.
I see the highlights on Superleague site headed “Wigan defeat Salford”!!

Absolutely brilliant second half turn around last night.
In the first half the effort was there but we didn't do the basics right. We were tackling one or two men allowing Wigan to get the roll on. In attack our forwards were stood still receiving the ball and not making much ground, whereas Wigan were making good yards by the fast play the balls. Apart from two lapses of concentration the score would have been fairly even. I did think the try just before half time was the killer.
In the second half we were tackling three up and wrestling the Wigan players on their back. Then one defender pulled away leaving two, then another one and finally the last giving our defence time to get in position to get up and meet the Wigan attack. Exactly what Wigan were doing to us in the first half. Combine that with our forwards running on to the ball at pace totally reversed the momentum second half. This meant that our half backs had time to orchestrate our attack. It must have been a great half time talk which totally changed the game.
We definitely needed that and it looks like our 12 new players are starting to become a team again. Hopefully more good performances to come
I don't like singling out players because it was a great team performance last night but Dan Sarginson and Niall were outstanding last night.

It's it just me,but I thought we got a fair shake from the referee last night. Win loose or draw that's all we can expect.

At least one of the supposed forward passes wasn't, one of the high tackles was a tackle around the ball carrying arm and their player then ducked into the tackle and the "knock on" by Joey which led to their 2nd try hit his foot and bounced up into his arms. He's had worse games has our friend Mr Child but he was far from great!

That forward pass was given by the touch judge and during the game I thought the knockon was right - only realised it wasn’t on slow motion replay.

I thought the ref was fine. It’s the only position on the pitch that has to be faultless and achieve perfection in order to be considered ok.
The forward pass was frustrating. The ball Definitely travelled Forward. Tui passed it on their 20m line. Williams caught it 15 out. But he passed it backwards. That’s what a rugby ball dies when you are running at speed and you pass. A lot of our fans would do well to remember that next time they are screaming cheat and corruption for a pass by the opposition that does the same

Thought Childs had a good game. Actually the games I've seen him ref this year he's been fine. He's probably had a kick up the arse by the rfl. There are certainly worse refs in my opinion. Moore, Griffiths and our friend Kendall.
