Didn't post yesterday as decided to reflect a little.
There was a positive and for me the greatest positive since we moved to Barton, 7 Brothers IPA at £4 a pint, I was nursing a semi when I spotted it at half time.
I think a big reason we lost yesterday was the charge down on the last tackle near the 1/2 way line right at the end of the 1st half, sorry but what type of rugby league player does that? That cost us the momentum and a well deserved 8 point lead going into the break. I would have got bollocked for that at school so I hope Watson read the riot act to whoever did it.
Our tactile kicking was atrocious, at times in the 1st half half when we were blowing and needed a break but were deep into the Leeds half we put in nothing kicks which allowed Leeds to counter when the ball should have gone dead.
to suffer the injuries we did and still keep fighting was commendable but ultimately even the worst refereeing display I've seen in my 49 years can't hide the fact we have no rudder, Atkin tried and is an admirable understudy but he just shipped the ball on all day long. no for me if we are going to get anywhere this season we need to find a hidden gem, me personally I'd try and get Lachlan Lam over and see if he might be the answer.

Agree with MR ; the appearance of the 7 Brothers IPA has markedly improved the match day experience and on the pitch we are rudderless . Yes the referee was exceedingly poor BUT in comparison with many Salford sides of recent years there was effort ( Gil , Seb , Pauli all the type of big grunt forwards a team needs ) , there is talent ( Evalds , Tui , Flash ) and I think the team spirit is good . Leeds are poor and we had a few , but enough opportunities to put the game to bed before the ridiculous catalogue of refereeing decisions destroyed any chance of a win . We just seem to have no one able to make the right decisions at crucial times and we seem to lose structure near the line . That for me is where a Hastings character is essential ; taking control allowing the structure ( or processes as Watto is keen to call it ) to work until they recognise that the moment is right to use the killer play OR spot that the off the cuff play is worth the risk . We have the creativity but not the guile to know when to use it . Too many headless chickens trying the wrong thing at the wrong time. And that is why we won’t be competing at the top end this year.

Also having gone to the Saints - Roosters match in the evening - how can we not learn from the NRL re speed of PTB and it’s equally important counterpart slowing down the opposition at the ruck . Saints have been the best at that in SL for a couple of years , but the Roosters gave them a lesson in that last night .

PP had a much better game yesterday and it was obvious he's been told to take the ball from a much deeper run, what needs to be looked at is his PTB (the whole team is terrible but he is worst of the lot), he looks lumbering when trying to get up.
I know we lost (though I'd challenge to a better team) but good God how far have the mighty Leeds fallen when they play someone like there #17, honestly he looked like he'd struggle in the championship never mind SL.

Something just came back to me, in the 2nd half stood further towards the Aldi corner and heard someone I have seen for Donkeys years giving Lui dogs abuse, something about being a fake and that he should be ashamed of himself, sorry but he was never anything but 100% for Salford, just hope we don't go back to being whinging morons in the stands now the going is getting tough again.

So after four games This post Claims that this Team is Terrible. We've had How many new players 8-9 Brought in to replace 4-5 players who Got us to the Grand Final , What did the Person who made the post And the rest of the Negative minded Ney Sayers expect?? A immediate repeat of performances from last season , We had two players making there debut on Saturday Atkin & Roberts , There first Super League game for a hell of a while. And to finish I'd like to Quote Jackson Hastings who was at the Game against Leeds He was stood on the Gantry above The West stand wearing a Sandy coloured Hoody jacket " It'll TAKE US A While bit it'll click eventually "

At least that's how I read it, not that the whole team is universally terrible. Nice that JH still comes and supports us. I think we'll always be a part of his life.

We could of - and should of, beat both Huddersfield and Leeds.
I hope this sort of defeat doesn't come back to bite us on the arse at the end of the season.

Does anyone else think Lussick is still a bit off the pace? Doesn’t look anywhere near as sharp as last year to me. He’s not done anything wrong and his passing from dummy half and tackling are still excellent but he’s not really influencing games like he did.

Teams are reading Lussick too well.

Teams are reading Lussick too well. Agree, Joey is no longer an unknown quantity. Most teams will have him scouted and will know the passes he prefers to make, weaknesses in his defence and his ability to shoot from dummy half to score. Think Jones could take on this unknown mantle in 2020 as been impressed with his passing and workrate so far. Still think letting Tomkins go was a mistake.
