Couple of points from me....
Yates should've start to adsorb that initial flow.
Atkin should've also been in the 17, potentially start with Joey coming on 20-30 minutes in, it worked so well last year.
Its early days, alot of new players and coupled with it being Saints, but defo need an improvement next week.

Well don’t know what to say about that. Confirmed Inu Atkin Lannon Ormanroid all playing reserves tommrow vs saints in the afternoon. Can see few of them getting dragged in next Saturday.

Game summed up by that complete switch off at the ruck. We're disjointed and it's going to take a while for things to gel in this outfit. Didn't think the starting lineup was smart either. Yates is a hard worker, top tackler and good engine. I think he should have started to help stem their go forward. He isn't an impact guy. I also would have started one of Seb or Pauli Pauli to match up to their pack size; or brought one of them on earlier. I'd also consider Atkin or Jones on the bench so that Lussick can be kept fresher. Or start one of them and bring Lussick on after 20 mins with one of PP and Seb. Bang on

Lussick wasn't at it today so he definitely needs either one of Jones or Atkin to spell. We need to be getting Atkins involved more if he's going to be taking over Brown next year

In fairness on that showing he's going to have to be ready to go because brown didn't do much tonight. Difficult when you have no ball or field position but his defense was suspect also. Anyway we ain't gonna play them every week.

Well at least that's out of the way.

Let’s hope that’s the worst performance we put in this year. Plenty to fix up but I suspect Watto will be doing his video analysis already

Anyway we ain't gonna play them every week. I wouldn’t make that sort of judgment on Kevin Brown. He’s a top player. Watson will have learnt many things tonight and,I suspect, will be self critical of his team selection albeit with the benefit of hindsight. His team selection wasn’t what I thought it’d be. Burke before Yates is a strange one. I think next time he’ll start Iki before Greenwood. Joey is wasted playing a full game. I understand why Inu didn’t play and Williams was quite strong but Inu is class and was missed. Flash is also class. The changes for the next game will be subtle ones but,if he goes with the same 17,I’d be really surprised

I’ve felt a lot worse coming home from better defeats if you get what I mean . Saints are just relentless and clinical - I can’t remember them not scoring from their opportunities and even if they didn’t they did on the next set We had some chances and missed them whilst they didn’t , Sarginson seemed to cut back inside at nil nil when he had Williams outside him Team wise , McCarthy seemed quiet for me , Pauli x 2 was on the field a lot but had minimal impact , Greenwood looked ok , Williams is steady Think Yates needs to start , agree that Lussick needs to be spelled with Atkin/ Jones but all in all I’m more positive than a 40 points walloping should be

I wouldn’t lay the blame on anybody for last night, we have a new team, players who played in different structures last year and that are still coming to grips with ours. The ref was rusty too, missing loads of major things and picking on the minutiae. Saints are no mugs, they had a rigid game plan which was to roll over us and keep hammering away for 80 minutes which they stuck to, they constantly layed on in the tackle stopping any quick play the ball, Lomax is the master at the disguised forward pass and they were a yard quicker everywhere their defence was very compact with fierce tackling. They have the most settled team in the league by a country mile a team that can at the moment snuff out any opponents game in seconds. Better to get this one out of the way, don’t worry about our team a win under our belt will change everything.

Was talking with someone pretty high up at another club last night and he spoke how teams all prepare to hit their straps at different times, if you start at full tilt you’ll have a lull in April, Wigan usually come in under cooked and hit full power week 10. Maybe we looked at our fixtures and wrote off saints,,fancy ourselves against Toronto even half way ready and hit our best physical form around week 4? Maybe I’m clutching at straws!
Saw enough in the first half to think we’ll be ok,,defended resolutely first half and just ran out of gas later on, Saints are still pretty decent, we won’t be the only team to get a tanking there. 2 disallowed tries were centimetres away, they got a few dodgy decisions. Could’ve been closer.

To be honest, I'd written off this fixture anyway. The season really starts next week for us. Best time to play Saints away is round 1. I'd put money on nobody else to get a win there either throughout the season. Better to get it out of the way now and look forward to the rest of the season.

Think we are being a little hard on our efforts. Tbh we surely never expected to win there so although it looks a tonking there were a few good points.
However I was disappointed with Mossops contribution and poor defence - just wonder whether his head has been turned towards Catalan. Dudson though was great.
Sarginson`s costly error in not parting to Williams cost us dearly - Browns manoevre to get the extra man was brilliant.
Tui was quiet and he needs to analyse his kicking on the last - very wasteful efforts and always straight to a man.
Evalds and Lussick worked very hard & Joeys 27 tackles in the first half took its toll.
Oh - Seb HAS to start. Looks fitter than ever.

Good point about Lussick - we’ve noted he wasn’t at his best in attack but you’ve reminded me that in the first half they repeatedly ran their big men at him. We obviously need a backup for him next game.

I've left it a little to let a few things settle in my head before I posted.
Yesterday I saw the best and worst in Salford fans.
The best, Grabbed a taxi with a couple of lads from the pub next to Junction station and got nattering, turns out it's someone to do with DITD, the good part was as we were getting out before him and his mate he wouldn't take any money from us, a nice gesture from a nice guy.
The bad, stood with the rest of the Salford fans behind the sticks and had a great time right until the end, right at the end of the game all the younger Saints cheer leaders walked past and an old guy stood next the pitch perimeter shouted at them to ef off you effing slags - These were young girls and that from a guy who must have been late 50's is just not acceptable. made me feel thoroughly ashamed to be a Salford fan.
