Seems pretty certain to happen now.
In 1 respect being able to watch one of the best players in a generation is exciting but when you delve into the deal and for me it's dangerous.
Toronto have no pathway for Canadian talent to get into the WP set up yet they can take the enormous risk of splashing out £5,000,000 over 2 seasons is absolute insanity and I'm amazed the RFL will allow it.
Sure bring in the best talent but this sets a presidence that could cause clubs to go to the wall.
Not only will he be earning more per season than our entire squad will earn in 2 he is also going to become a shareholder.
Can see this being the green light for NY to go insane and bring in someone similar.

When the yanks start this will be the norm. They'll get the best Aus players, Aus will get our players and..... Wonder how much a certain Yorkshire team director will be getting out of it. He did a lot of deals when he was here.
Cruciate ligament/Achilles in his first match would be interesting, like V V for us, about £150,000 and never played a minute in his second season, and same age!

Can also see a return to the old days of Union players being poached.
I'd be surprised if NY didn't try and get Carlin Isles, would be unstoppable in the lower leagues.

Thing is they need about another 8 players to make them compete. SBW was brilliant but he is now 34. He can’t do it all on his own. Unless they also have a raft of Aussies coming in and I would not put it past them then I can see them struggling. BTW what this does for RL and SL is beyond me. I will look forward to my trip to Toronto can’t see there being many more.

I also worry the NRL will introduce a Marquee rule, there's big money backers all over the shop in Australia/NZ
Just get the feeling a massive can of worms has been opened.

Are Toronto exempt from the salary cap rules?

Are Toronto exempt from the salary cap rules? No. They’ve used the marquee rule, as have Wigan, Warrington etc. Only 150k of the marquee players salary counts on the cap. Hope this helps.

I personally think this is great for SL. A star known across the world in both codes and will put a bigger spot light on Toronto and SL as a whole. I wish he was a bit younger but what can you do.

Apparently they're now after Manu Tuilangi and Ben Teo. Perhaps they'd be better spending their money on a decent pitch. Hype never won a rugby match...Hock, Chase etc but good coaches who create a team do..Watson.

We cant have it both ways, we want big money investors involved in the sport. We cant then complain when they spend big money.
What they have done is perfectly within the rules and was exactly the kind of thing that Koukash wished he could do when he initially got involved and started championing the Marque player allowance.
For what its worth I think its great, I cant wait to see him live again, and i know for a fact that 10 of my mates (mostly Union fans) who are now coming along to the Toronto game just to see him in the flesh.

S B W is or was a great rugby player. He as maximised is talent into money, good luck to him.But don't let Toronto feed the notion he is there because he likes the project or maple syrup he is their for the renumeration and it will probably cause resentment so he will have a lot of work to do. When the RFL let the rule in you can bet they did not think it would be used like this.Their is probably nobody their with that much sense.

Noble now calling for reviews and possible changes. Can honestly see a return to the days of Wigans name being on the silverware before the season starts. Except that it will be Toronto, NY, Ulaanbaatar or whoever has the biggest benefactor. And to make matters worse I'll miss the game at the Enormadome.
Gutted by that, I thought the best NRL forward I'd seen was Beaver to date.
