I love the idea of big cities involved : Leeds. That's it: Leeds. Kinston upon Hull has 2 teams who are no nearer amalgamation than the Palestinians and Zionists. The City of Wakefield has 3 teams! Wigan (famous for a music hall joke about a wharf on the canal and little else in the last 25 years), Saint Helens (famous for beer glasses), Warrington (famous for …?) and the rest are not world class metropolises. So how do they attract businesses to compete with New York, Boston, St Louis. There were some big cities in the lower leagues but are they RL areas? (London excepted: nowt against them). Anyone want to try a Paris St something? The man who founded the world famous Mayo clinic in America came of Oldfield Rd in Salford.
