No team in SL would have beat Saints yesterday. They are a class above everyone else. They have a game plan and stick to it. I am just happy Salford got there and put in a performance we can all be proud of. Let’s hope some of those extra fans come next season and we remain at the top section of the league and not revert back to being the perennial strugglers.

Really proud of the boys yesterday. Beaten by a better side but can all hold their heads high. Good luck to all those moving on (except when playing against us, obviously) and thanks for helping make it a great season. For those staying and the newcomers, let’s hope for another great one next year.

Griffin make 57 tackles last night. Top effort. Exactly why he was voted MVP by the squad. Will be a bigger loss next year than some give him credit for

There's not a whole lot I can add on what's already been said, but here's a few thoughts:
- Massive effort from us, I don't think there was a whole lot more we could have done. And fair play to Saints, top class team and deserved it in the end. The ref was garbage, but even if we had say scored another 3 tries or whatever, I always felt Saints could pull something special out of the bag at any given moment. - Great turnout in the Salford end. - The whole thing was a bit surreal overall. It's a day I'll never forget for sure.

And play as well as they could.Just my opinion.

Completely agree with Dixon- they had to work for every point, only pulled away when fatigue kicked in and nearly all their tries came off the back of decisions against us (not all incorrect) that had given them the ball deep in our half.
On a separate note just noticed this reply to someone from Hastings’ mum which should put to bed the rumours that he’s staying but hints that he isn’t 100% happy about leaving unless I’m reading too much into it:

One thing I forgot to mention was the Zeb Taia try, brilliant.
I love watching something different like that.

T. next year, I don't think as many Salford fans will go, due to the standing during the game. Where I was I saw older people having to keep sitting down, lots of children and smaller people unable to see. It could also be a turn off, for getting a season ticket. They may think that happens at the aj bell

I have never seen everyone standing like that all game at a RL game. I go to a lot of football games at OT and away and it is common there especially away. I just think we got a lot of Utd and perhaps City fans😉 turning up. If we want to progress we need new fans but not at the expense of our existing fan base.

I think rugby fans are much more accustomed to standing aren’t they? Not many football grounds have standing areas. I know away fans at football games like to stand. But the Salford fans have a long standing tradition of the noisiest fans finding somewhere at all seaters to stand. Usually at the back of the stand. Then others sit towards the front.. At the promotion final against leigh in 2003 I think pretty much everyone stood in the stand behind the posts. In 2007 I was on the touchline st the HJ and people sat there. I think it’s an issue with having specific seats. It means those who want to stand are spread out rather than being able to congregate at the back

I can see both sides of the story here and I feel everyone's pain. I've always been a stander where it's allowed. I'm still young enough and mobile enough (just about😁) to be able to stand during a game and standing is more conducive to creating an atmosphere, dancing around like a bell-end when you score etc etc. You just can't do that when sat down.
I've tried sitting in West/East stand at the AJ Bell but I just find myself standing up every time I get excited (oo er matron!) and this does annoy people after a while who don't watch the sport the same way or who need to sit for physical reasons etc.
I fully understand that a lot of people like to/have to sit for a variety of reasons and all-seater stadiums are generally policed so people are forced to sit through the match. That blatantly wasn't the case on Saturday (at a Utd home game you get thrown out for persistent standing as they police it quite strictly).
I just think the authorities seriously need to consider their stance on all-seater stadiums. They kill the atmosphere completely and I genuinely believe re-introducing standing isn't going to cause horrific events like Hillsborough.
