Watching the match live then watching it later when I got home, I honestly think we were poorly done by the official, I'm not saying we would have won but we would have come a little closer than what we did. But in saying that congratulations to saints, worthy winners. As for salford, what a team, great set of lads, proud of every one of them, any other team that would of been a 60 point margin the amount of pressure put on our defence. Lets celebrate our year, loved every minute. Hope all players and staff go away and enjoy a well earned rest. As for next season we have now become a target for other clubs, this is where Ian and his staff will really earn there corn, I feel assured Ian and staff will succeed. Enjoy the break look forward to next season and hopefully a few more fans. Up the reds I'll post properly in the morning as I'm still in the pub but just want to echo how proud I am of everyone in the club for what happened tonight. Came up short against a superb Saints team but take so much credit away. We lost against a better team, it's that simple. Yes we got the duff deal on a few decisions but ultimately it wouldn't have affected the result. Watto & co I salute you. Proudest moment of my 30 years watching the club. Now did I hear someone say "another large G&T Slim"?😁

PS. Well done johnh1 on the predictions. I hope you feel suitably ashamed for tipping Saints to win and your victory is tainted. 🤣🤣🤣

Really pleased to have seen an incredible Salford team play at the Grand Final, but I can’t put into words how frustrating it feels that the referee didn’t allow us to have a fair crack at it.

Really pleased to have seen an incredible Salford team play at the Grand Final, but I can’t put into words how frustrating it feels that the referee didn’t allow us to have a fair crack at it. Totally agree. Saints we're the better team, ball retention, kicking but the ref like a rabbit in the headlights. According to the team on Sky, Fages was offside for the 2nd try and the try shouldn't have been, he should have at least gone to the video ref for the disallowed Lolohea try, shoulder charges, a use of the head ( yellow card) and continual offside and lying on at the ptb. Thaler showed last week really good and Mature reffing, keeping both sides honest at the ptb and offside. All Kendall could do was pick on slight infringements at the ptb, rather like Childs does. Sadly he's not up to the job . my feelings, we would have lost, but we were denied to enter the game properly by an inept official and it spoiled the night. Yes I'm a Salford fan and a biased but was sat with a lot of fans from different clubs, knowledgable supporters and they were shouting at Kendsl to get a grip. Was watching the RU internationals, they've sorted it. The video ref watches the back of the on field ref, who can't see everything, and you get the right decisions. So why does RL lose spectators. One reason right here. Get good refs for big matches and use the technology as they do in RU. And the season; at the start, after last year, I would have been relieved to finish 11th. So well done Ian Watson and the whole group, at least we seem to have enough money now to survive next season. Another final but with a mature, knowledgeable ref. Yes please.

JJR makes a good point with regards to the video ref. Why doesn't the video ref intervene and tell the on-field ref to correct any decisions that he may have missed or got wrong? It happens in RU and it happens in the NRL, but for some reason doesn't happen here. I found the game a little frustrating to watch which was a combination of Saints tactics (Slow the PTB and play close to offside) and us not getting the rub of the green with decisions.
Saints played their tactics that have worked all season and they are difficult to counter without that fairness from the man in the middle. They steamroller teams with quick PTB and relentless speed in attack the first twenty minutes of each half. They are also very good at slowing the PTB of the opposition almost to perfection. These are difficult tactics to counter, and if you add-in a ref who misses crucial things or gives wrong calls at crucial times, the job is almost impossible.
It was a great thing to see us at a GF. The support was noisy and proud. Just a shame that we became locked into a battle of attrition that we couldn't get a fair break in.

I too was at the game and I echo every sentiment that has been said, that was one of the worst refereeing displays in a final I have ever seen. Salford didn’t play to our strengths and in my humble opinion Joey should have been brought on earlier but that said Saints were never going to lose they were much quicker and smarter. We as a team have shown the rest of the Rugby World what a magnificent club we are and if half of the people who turned up yesterday came to the Club every week we undoubtedly would be a mighty force in Superleague.
There is always next year, big thanks to all the Players who are leaving who got us to the final and a Giant welcome to the Players joining us that will take us to next years Grand Final. Exciting times ahead.

Agree with your points about slowing the ball etc by Saints. Wigan tried last week and Thaler sorted it straight away. Sadly Kendal no experience and out of his depth. RL should take note, you can't have this in your showpiece event.

RL should take note, you can't have this in your showpiece event. I saw last Wednesday that Kendall had been given the game and I knew there'd be trouble. Don't think I've ever seen the guy have a decent game. Can't believe Thaler wasn't given it and if Hicks hadn't have had a shocker in the CC final then he'd have got it. Listen, as most have said it wouldn't have changed the result but this guy just missed so much you can't say we had a fair crack of the whip. Anyway, congrats to Saints. Top side who will be hard to crack next season again. Well done Watto and the lads. Couldn't be more proud. And a final message to the pissed up k**bs who think throwing bottles and pints is clever, just stay away. I was in E235 and some idiots were fighting amongst themselves...

Going to let the dust settle for a day or 2 before I lob in my thoughts.
But I will say I've never felt so proud to be a Salfordian.

Kendall is poor. He guesses too much so it’s always going to be 50/50 whether he’s called it right. Also can’t believe he didn’t go upstairs for the Lolohea try. Probably still disallowed but would’ve given our team a longer breather !

PS. Well done johnh1 on the predictions. I hope you feel suitably ashamed for tipping Saints to win and your victory is tainted. 🤣🤣🤣 Cheers Salfordslim. I will forever hang my head in shame for predicting a Saints win. I would have happily let you have the trophy if we had managed a win. But hey ho, we all start level again next year. Really enjoyed the game, shame we couldn’t have scored a try at our end. Took a Union loving mate to his first ever live League game, and he was suitably impressed. Anyway, on my way back to the sunshine of Gran Canaria now. Let’s do it again next year and win.

Gets even worse. Just watched the match on Sky: The Sky experts stated the Saints 2nd try shouldn't have been allowed because Fages didn't retreat behind the scrum. Kendall possibly doesn't understand the basics. But enough of his failings and let's concentrate on out triumphs this season and look forward to welcoming a dozen new players proud to wear the shirt. ...There's only one Kevin Brown😉

Kendall was appalling yesterday and isn't fit for refereeing such a big game. Every decision went for Saints including a high tackle on Niall Evalds just before the second Saints try. The worst of all was the decision to disallow the Salford try and not even go to the screen. Remember the Challenge Cup Final debacle. What about the headbutt in the face, not to mention the offside and flopping on to slow the game down. Now I'm not saying Salford would have won yesterday against a classy Saints team but we weren't even given a chance. All I can say is what a great effort by our boys in the face of adversity and the should all be really proud of a great season.

Please can we talk about Salford rather than the referee? We are talking about the game last night. But kendal was intertwined with it. Did he change the outcome no.Did he help Saints along yes. We have all expressed our admiration of the way the team performed last night. They were outstanding to a man.All you ask is for inparciality we did not get it.Yes we have talked about the team the Red Devils. Its a pity Kendal didn't give them a fair crack of the wip.
