Apparently Hastings was asked last night if he may be staying at Salford, his response was ‘anything could happen’.
Seen this on the Wigan RLFANS board.

It would cost us about half a million to buy him out of his contract - it isn’t happening.

As I’ve already said on another thread, I can’t see Hastings backing out of a contract he’s already signed (if he has signed a contract, Edwards didn’t).

I would love an honest answer from him if he regrets leaving at such a pivotal time for Salford, he could in theory be the catalyst for greater and greater things.

"I know I'm leaving, but I want to be part of leaving a legacy that is there for years to come. Nearly all the whole team is here next year, they've added some good recruits and it's only up from here. "This isn't a one-hit wonder you're witnessing. ... "This week will be something I'll never forget. Nobody is going to give little old Salford a chance, so it's another free hit. My heart is with this club, so let's go one more time and do something genuinely incredible".
My edit from today's "Rugby Leaguer and League Express."

I'd doubt Hastings would back out of a contract, but stranger things have happened. Certainly, the things he has said this week would be a little worrying as a Wigan fan.
For what it's worth, my opinion, based on nothing but what I feel and without any evidence, I think he is regretting leaving us.

Me too, you can see that his heart is with Salford and you'd have to guess it will remain at Salford, can't think of a player in my lifetime who has taken the club and fans to heart so readily, in a little over a year he has fallen in love with Salford and become pretty much a living legend for his performances.
I feel privileged to have had the chance to see him in a red shirt.

Think the Oz clubs will be in for him soon. He's totally outplayed every half back in the League and MoS will be noted.

I love to watch the Broncos in the NRL and have found it strange when they have struggled purely based on their lack of organising/running half that his name hasn't been mentioned.
The pill would have been much easier to swallow if we'd have lost to just about the biggest team in world RL.

They will be more impressed with how he has matured and turned it all around. He will return to Oz, not as a gamble, but as a young lad that has found his feet in the world and can offer not just ability but heart and teamwork. He wont be at Wigan for his two year contract. I'd put money on it.

There is 1 sure fire thing that will come of this, if we are in for any player from the NRL and they are doubting coming Blease will give them Jackons number and say ask him, can you imagine the glowing way he'd sing the club and fans praises?
If we play it right his love for the club could be invaluable if/when he returns home.

Either way, I’m really enjoying seeing those entitled Wigan fans who mocked us squirm and worry about what he’s going to do. Welcome to our world chaps.

I’m hoping he has a clause in his contract that if a NRL club comes in for him before the season starts then he can go. I just can’t bear the thought of him in a Wigan shirt. You can see in his demeanour and how he talks about Salford that he is regretting it. Seeing empty home fans stands and the away end packed at two major games probably also got him thinking.
Will he get the same support and adulation at Wigan .. No Will he get booed if he makes a mistake... Yes Will he get a good send off when he leaves..No Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener and to leave both Ians the team and the fans is something he will look back on and think only if.

Word from the famous Oz Mole is that Oz Clubs are really chasing JH and that at best he'll stay a year at Wigan. Assume they'll have Kevin Brown as their marquee player for 2021.
