Playing devils advocate here but where is everyone willing to draw the line? Or is it ‘keep the club going at any cost’? Attendances are not getting any better and there is no magic money tree.
If we are that desperate for £65k I can’t see how we can afford Hastings so next season we face the prospect of a significantly weaker team. No guarantee we won’t need to sell someone else to balance the books again. No guarantee Watson stays to keep working miracles. Maybe, he stays and we unearth a load of rough diamonds again but realistically for how long can we keep this up?
Personally, I love watching Salford, some might say I’m slightly obsessed, but but I’m not religious about it and If I had a choice i’d rather we went out on a high as opposed to flogging a dead horse for a season or two. By ‘going out on a high’ I mean with this squad (with Lui) having a good crack at the playoffs.
Apologies for the miserable tone but that £65k figure has really knocked me. I was expecting £100k and could have lived with above £85k I think.

65k is a insult. By getting knocked out of the CC it was said the club lost 150k. Tell Leeds that’s what they have to pay.

On a similar note, does anyone know how much the Squad Builder has contributed in order to keep us afloat up until this point in the season? How bad would the situation be if this didn't exist?

£65k was only GC figure. He's not the Oracle, he's been wrong before.

I couldn't agree more,if Leeds are that desperate they will pay.At this present time Liu his more important to us. 200.000 and get Brierley till the end of the season.

In Watson and Blease I trust Yes we do.But I afraid they hung their boots up long ago.We need bodies on the paddock not in the office.

You’re digging a bit of a hole. Watson is not an office wallah. Let’s leave it there

If it really is only a case of £65000 to keep Rob till the end of the season then I would gladly chip in £50 . Then it would only take another 1500 or so regulars to do the same and we wouldn’t have to sell him.

This would not only give us a better chance of top 5 , but would prevent Leeds from getting a good player.

I'm not saying this is the case, but what if the £65K plus what we don't pay Rob Lui for the remainder of the season is being used to keep Jackson here for next season? Much as I don't want to lose Rob Lui who's been fantastic for us since he arrived if it meant another season with Jackson Hastings it would be worth it, providing we don't capitulate and go down.

Last 3 home crowds:
1800 vs HKR. 2900 vs Wakey. 2800 vs Cas.
Our next home game is Hudds on a Thursday night on sky TV, which no doubt will be another bumper crowd.
Absolutely no chance of us keeping a top 5 squad together on these attendances.

If we are in such dire straits financially then could/should the club ask for new squad builder monies and/or an early launch of next years scheme... sounds like we are pushing the lottery though which is good...
