He’s played pretty much every game since he signed I think. He’s a quality player who hasn’t been at his best this year and has still managed at least half a dozen sensational performances. His defence is one of the best I’ve seen from a stand off. He has won games on his own at times and is in the top 5 or so players while I’ve been watching Salford (since late 80s)
We will miss him massively. His link up with Hastings and evalds and the outside backs is quality. He takes on the line better than most other SOs in the league. I think only Williams and Kelly are at the same level as him in terms of overall SO ability.
That said, he needs an organiser along side him and i don’t see him solving Leeds problems unless they are signing anew scrum half too. I think he’ll do well there but he won’t control the team like they need someone to. I’ll be devastated to see him play in blue and amber.
If they do sign him then I desperately hope we have a replacement lined up and/or that we get a decent wad of cash

If we end up being relegated cash won't keep Hastings, this is a fine balance decision with really bad consequences.

Not happy and won’t be going again if he goes. I know the clubs skint but rl is looking less like a sport and more like the toy of a few rich clubs.
We do’t stand a chance and never will do where’s the fun in that.

Red 42. Our benefactor went and left the Club in some chaos. Last season was pure survival without a benefactor. This year is again a form of survival and we were one of the two relegation favourites. We're now 5th. We have a great coach and some really determined players. The Club needs money and to move forward this season we've had to sell, like we sold Ben MM and G O'B. Both those have not done as well a they did here.
Rob L wanted to go at the end of the season anyway. An opportunity apparently arose with Leeds to sell and get some much needed money in and one of the highest cost players off the salary bill. It enables us to last the season....we don't want to end up like Widnes!!
The Club has very few employees Watson, Blease,...the Board is working very hard...Paul King has put his life on hold to run the Club on a day to day basis, a supporter like you and me.
So we're having it tough but we're from Salford, it's always tough. The Club is surviving, the players, coach, Director of rugby, Board, Supporters Trust. Foundation are working really hard to move us forward and it's working.
So yes like when Ben, Gaz OB went we're all a bit concerned...but he was going anyway.. So get down there mate, join those helping survival and support the Fifth Team in Superleague.

Signing players to survive: that’s exactly what we did with Hastings this time last year. It’s hypocritical to blame Leeds for doing the same.
The board have one over riding responsibility, keeping Salford alive. That’s more important than our immediate entertainment. It’s a real shame but this will keep happening whilst our crowds are low. Watson is keeping this club alive at the minute by getting players to play so well we can sell in the transfer market. That extra cash is vital. I wish it wasn’t so, but I commend the board for being sensible and not gambling with the club’s future.
Gutted to see Lui go, he’s been brilliant, but good luck to him, hope he gets a good payday. He deserves it. I’m just forever grateful we have a club to support.

That said, the one thing that does stick in the throat when I look at the Leeds board is the sense of entitlement. They seem to believe that if they want a player, then that player would automatically want to go there. We want Hastings? Of course he should come here then, why wouldn't he?

I personally think are needs are greater,in as much the player ie Liu than the money.Where does it stop what if Cas or Wigan come in for Evalds do we sell him.Because 250 thousand is no good in the championship yes we are fifth but we are also six points off the bottom.Because as good as Hastings is he is no good on his own.If it was my shout Liu would not be going anywhere until we are safe and Leeds are relegated. PS would you be saying von voyage if it was Hastings and not Liu.

JJR thanks for the reply it’s spot on.
It’s not really a Salford thing I’ve been following them for 40 odd years and don’t think I could ever completely stop.
But my love of the sport in general has been waining for a few years.
My frustration with how the sports run is reaching a peak. It can’t be right that Leeds can just buy thier way out of trouble in the manner they are.
Yes in know we picked up Hastings last year but we didn’t go looking for a more successful but poorer club to raid.
I doubt Leeds would have to suffer relegation if they did finish bottom the big clubs simply have too much power.

If the choice was Hastings leaving to save the club financially, then it would have to happen as much as we'd all hate it. The survival of the club is paramount, and I trust the board to do what they have to do to make it happen. If we want sales to stop, we have to either double the crowds or find someone prepared to lose hundreds of thousands of pounds every season of their own money.
We are lucky to be punching above our weight here in Super League when we are a top end Championship sized club. Watson and Co deserve enormous credit for this achievement. This is how we survive.

£65k doesn't sound like much money for Lui, but he's eligible to walk away for free at the end of the season so I guess the Club needs to seriously consider the offer.
I'd feel much more comfortable about it if we were able to get an immediate replacement.

Don't get me wrong. But let's have a look at this how many of the 3000 on Friday would be there if we were in the championship Huddersfield have 4 500 and Ken Davy he his not going to be there for ever and they pay rent.Wakefield London Cas Hull kR have they got sugar daddies. So we all get the Sky money and a bit of sponsorship Rugby League was a semi professional sport and that's where it's heading at the next tv deal Sky could offer half the money and we would have to take it. Because I cannot see anyone else beating down the door.Because them running the game couldn't run a chip shop.

Or if we don't let Lui go there might be nobody at the Huddersfield match as they might have to close the doors, as Widnes did.
