Come on russ, don't give up on us yet sure we've been through worse than this? We are definitely in a better position now than we were pre marwan. I'm not delusional, I'm not saying all will be rosey, that marwan will stay, or even he'll go and some other daft millionaire will buy us, but at the end there will always be a salford in some guise. We may be in the championship, or lower, but I bet the same 2,000 die hards will still be there. It's just part of who we are. It's not great, but it's also not the end of the world. I won't be giving up anyway, as much as sometimes I do want to

But I'm not prepared to witness SRD become a championship funeral pyre and a terminal basket case. But thanks for your words and I really appreciated you making the effort.

MK posted this on Twitter last night. Does it imply that he's going to be remaining at the club next season?

I'd read it like that, I really would like him to stay, continue the good work pre points deduction and make Salford successful. Retaining certain players for me would be paramount if he does stay and we stay in SL.

I read it as "I'm not thinking beyond the next match!"

I'm a fan of the Yorkshire Evening Post's coverage of RL and certainly the national dailies could learn a lot from that paper. And I quote: "Marwan Koukash is a divisive figure, but the negative attitude some in the game have towards Salford’s owner does not reflect well on them or the sport. He can be his own worst enemy at times; he seems to enjoy baiting the governing body, which is probably counter-productive and the six-point deduction – confirmed following an appeal – was a self-inflicted wound. But the last thing rugby league should be doing is discouraging a rich backer, who is clearly a fan of the sport and prepared to put his money where his mouth is. Salford were in a poor state before Koukash took over, but he has brought in better players and raised the club’s profile. He certainly has the knack of attracting media coverage which is something else the sport needs, though many of its administrators don’t seem to understand that. Without Koukash, rugby league would simply have another club struggling to pay its bills."
This is about as good a summary as it gets and more balanced than anything I've read in RL journals over the same issues. So what if MK's divisive, a lot of his detractors are quite clearly not motivated by anything he says or does because their dislike and criticism of the RFL is much stronger than his ever has ever been.

The lack of news coming out of the club also put this in my mind.I think MK is going. I think he may let a group of supporters take over. I don't believe there will be any other buyers. In this case, at best we'll become Fev on this side of the Pennines and at worst we'll be in a slow path to meeting at the church for last rites and goodbyes. This has nothing to do with the team's performance the other day,I'm over that already.Normally, I can keep the flag flying no matter what, but when I see the future looking like this I can't see the point.I'd also prefer to go out of business tomorrow than linger in the championship for years of watching the patient get weaker and weaker until we follow York,Trafford, Kent Invicta etc etc into oblivion.I don't get depressed or maudlin, in fact I'm in a really good mood today so these conclusions are out of left field. In any case, all the best to SRD fans and everyone on here in particular but I think I may done with it all.

Redgunner, I'm not sure why you put this here without comment, both these posts are what I believe to be true.I think MK going is the last thing SRD needs but Salford are a club where only the worst things happen.I've not changed my mind about going just delayed it until MK's stated his, which if you read the other posts you knew anyway.I've just come around slightly till we know the state of the patient.
SRD need MK to stay, and I've never changed that stance not even slightly!

A few questions guys. Do we think MK will stay? only if we are SL or even if C/ship? Could we get out of the c/ship easily and is the salary cap the same for all leagues nxt year? What is likely to happen if we lost our sl status in terms of players and Tim Sheens particularly? Also will/can we stay at the AJ Bell? Hope you don't mind these questions its just things that are on my mind. Thanks all, appreciated

It's clear what I think will happen, while desperately hoping I'm wrong. There are a few rumours and there may be some who actually know. Without the kind of backing we get from MK I believe we'll simply start on the road to non-existence. There's no doubt the AJ Bell is our albatross while we neither own it nor get other income streams from it, and its geographical position doesn't and hasn't helped.

its a crying shame whats happening and i really fear for the future Russ. I really hope MK stays whatever as i think he has unfinished business and if he doesn't the consequences are too dreadful for me to contemplate mate.

I will say it again the Doc is much maligned and misunderstood. But for SRD, he's vital and I worry what planet anyone's living on who can't see this. I fear for the future too. The RFL have played a silly game with Salford and though I don't want to go into it, this is one area where they've been very questionable. SRD are a work in progress as you say redwolf and I'd hate to see it all come to nothing when really and truly we've only just begun!
