Absolute shocker of a tackle from Hastings. If the forearm smash from the side didn’t fracture O’Brien’s jaw then the follow up knee in face would have done. Let’s hope this thuggery doesn’t go unnoticed by other teams hoping to sign him up next season.

Hastings doesn't really look like a dirty player, wonder if something's been said or he copped a sly dig from someone and thought it was GOB?
A friend immediately texted who was watching on SKY (BTW why wasn't the big screen showing it?) and said it was dirty and very intentional, my fear is that we might have seen the last of Hastings in a red shirt if they go after him at the RFL.

3 game ban. No idea what brought it on although GOB does seem to get clobbered often so maybe he is mouthy and winds players up. Thought there might be a rare win at Leeds next week but no chance now with JH not playing. One more win needed and surely not even Salford could Cock that up

One more win needed and surely not even Salford could Cock that up If there's one team that could cock up our good position at the minute, then it's Salford! I can't see us beating Leeds, especially without Hastings, but we should be alright against London and Toulouse - beating either of those would seal SL for us.

Anyway, glad to get the 2 points yesterday. We were great in the first half. Things got a bit shaky for the first part of the second half, but it was pretty comfortable again after Lannon's try, and then the penalty.
I don't think anyone had a particularly bad game, but I thought Chamberlain and Welham both played really well. From where I was in the South Stand, there was a few occasions where it looked like Toronto would score in the corner, especially with their man advantage, but they generally recovered pretty well. Plus Welham's hit on someone in the first half on the last tackle (I think) was decent.

There was plenty of niggle throughout the game and saw 2 or 3 instances of Sims and McCrone roughhousing Hastings. Hastings even tried to clip McCrone round the ear at one point off the ball! When he hit O'Brien I thought it was a good old fashioned Lama style bellringer but having watched it back the ref probably had no choice. Not sure if it was 100% malicious as O'Brien was going to ground but it was the right decision to send him off. As for a couple of our fans...🙄 One dickhead in South Stand spent the entire 80 calling Hicks every name under the sun (think he was trying to impress some mates he'd brought with him). He's probably watched the game back now and still thinks every decision that went against us was wrong as some people really are just thick as pigshit and need to take their blinkers off. As for Burgess. It's just a dumb thing to do. We were in total control at half-time and just took our foot off the gas. When Toronto are getting a foothold in the game the last thing you need is a player getting himself needlessly sent off. Credit to the players left on the park for sticking it out and getting the result. Finally (rant almost over!), what's with the abuse that was dished out to GOB?🙄 He didn't ask to leave the club, we sold him for the cash and I haven't seen him bad mouth us in the media. He was always a top professional for us and then there's the little matter of THAT drop goal. The guy deserves better than some of the moronic abuse he got yesterday and some of our fans really need to get a grip.

Totally agree with you on the latter as regards GOB. He took some hard hits yesterday, some legitimately and some not. I really cant comment as regards Hastings sending off as I didn't see it being in the West Stand and have not watched any replays. As regards so called fans giving GOB abuse, like Salfordslim refers to, GOB didn't want to leave in the first instance, however money worked both ways and he always gave 100 % to the cause and basically saved us rom oblivion with that famous drop goal. The man has my upmost respect and has been very professional in every way, his interviews and comments towards other players and teams were always gracious. I noticed yesterday when he came off, he was totally knackered, his face and head looked like he`d been 10 rounds with Mike Tyson and still he was congratulating the Salford Players and hugging a few of em, having his picture taken with Salford fans and there kids. He didn't deserve any abuse and some of the treatment dished out yesterday and on a final note I wish him all the best for the future.

I disagree, only because gaz either slips or goes to ground, if he stays on his feet then it's a good tackle. Thuggery is totally wide of the mark he's done nothing wrong all game

A fine victory considering how many things went against us. Can't really complain about either red card but not sure why our try was disallowed in the first half? Also things such as tripping and professional fouls not getting any punishment and maybe you can see why our heads went.
Can't see Hastings getting less than 2 games unfortunately. A stupid act really with only 10 seconds left. It's a good job we've already got 4 wins on the board or it would've really been panic stations.
Didn't hear GOB getting any stick really, apart from the usual that any full back gets when looking a bit shaky. It's a shame if there was anything more untoward.

Rob Lui,on interview, said that Salford love Gaz to bits and there was no need for Jackson to have done that. It goes without saying that O’Brien is a class act. Fair enough to mark him closely during the game but not smash him with 10 seconds to go. Hastings is normally very visible on social media. What does he say happened. Someone should ask him !

Complete silence on ****ter from Jacko. Probably been advised it is sub judice to make any comment at this stage and is saving it for the disciplinary. I think he’ll get the book, the bible , Das Kapital and the Koran (Allah be praised) thrown at him.

Didn't notice at the time but what did Burgess get marched for?
Thought the ref had a good game as I've given up on the 10 metre rule being policed correctly.
Not much has been said about Lannon but think he's maturing into a high class back row, seems to have slimmed down a little and looks very assured when he's given a run of games.

Ironic,Toronto finished Carney with Salford and it now looks like we won’t see Hastings again,if the rumours are to be believed.

One thing is for sure this shows the club that a dynamic playmaker brings a lackluster team out of its shell. If JH goes an equally talented replacement is the minimum requirement if we want to avoid the middles again.

Anyone having a go at Gareth O’Brien is out of order in my opinion and no one near us in the West Stand, right hand side, was doing so. With regards to the referee,I thought that Hicks had a poor game all round he was inconsistent with offside and play the balls,he got decisions wrong on a few ocassions but the lack of the big screen completely messed it up for lots of people, mainly due to the fact that nobody new what was going on several times until they realised that he was receiving instructions from above.
