You make a good point and I'm in agreement.
The only thing that bothers me about 'survival' for us, is that we wont be in SL for us to survive. At least not in the short to mid term. To be in with a shot at making it on our own, assets will go. For us that's our players. It's not a problem I suppose, but it begs the question that if we can't make it in SL what makes us think that we can make it outside of it? Or will that be our level?
If we go down I fear the worst to be honest. Hence my constant mithering on here lately. We've got an opportunity to help out the club and keep one of only 12 top flight spots. If we go down I really think it could finish us off. Over dramatic perhaps but no players, no sky money, no academy and our only income will be coming from reduced sponsorship and sub 1500 crowds. Not much to add really. I've said it before, but if we drop I think that will be us. If dropping down meant a clear out and a fresh start then I'd be all for it. We have massive debt owed to the council and astronomical rent at our current venue which wouldn't be viable in the lower leagues. We can't make ends meet in SL in our stadium, lower leagues will be the death knell for a club that will be relying on income from gates primarily. I agree with you in that if we drop that will pretty much be it. I know it seems negative but barring a miracle I can't see a way out of our current situation.

I've seen quite a few people saying that we should start again from scratch etc and no doubt people would rally round the club if this happens but personally I would say get the behind the club now and give us a better chance of staying in the top flight.

Can someone please tell me or explain what MK spent 5 million on ? JW built up 3 million over a longer period of time whilst managing to keep the club in business. How much did his pointless survey cost ? How much did his various useless employees and pay offs cost ? How much did the overpaid overhyped players cost ? If that comes to 5 million then he is worse a business man than I thought. All we got from him was pain and grief and he now leaves us and saddles us with his made up 5 mill debt. And people still want him back 😳

Day to day costs going back to 2013 Unexpected bills/payments going back to 2013 Bringing in staff behind the scenes Five years of player recruitment based solely on his wallet Increased cap spending to try and compete based solely on his wallet Upgrading existing facilities for playing staff Providing gym and fitness equipment that the club didn't have Yearly kit re-branding based solely off his wallet RFL fines over five years Financing fan-based ticketing incentives from time to time Player and family welfare increases Player and staff travel subsidised
That's just off the top of my head. The club has generally generated zero of its own funds since Wilky's hay day. The fact that MK only spent five million is pretty impressive considering how much the club relied on his personal wealth to keep going. I'm not saying we should have MK back, but we need a wealthy backer to survive. We've been bankrolled for decades and I don't see any evidence of it working any other way. I get why people don't like MK, but I don't get why they let that prejudice the obvious in front of their eyes.

Approximately £10 milllion received from Sky 2013-17 gate and season ticket sales 5 seasons unpaid monies to CVA,5 seasons nil rental paid to stadium on the credit side I never have or would every trust MK! It looks like the new board pays there bills but have no funds to run the club, MK funded players being brought in, but paid no bills. the club had CVA for a reason, shirt sponsors are one example. Looking back on John Wilkinson time, he tried to do the right thing, pushed by the rugby league to go to a modern stadium, he beleaved if he did not make the move Salford would have not be allowed in super league, to only end up with a debit of only £3 million on arrival at the new stadium for me is quite amazing, to apply another £5 million from 2013 to 2017 when you have not paid any rent or paid many bills does not add up. He wasted a lot of money fighting legal cases, taking on the rugby league and ran useless surveys to help facilitate his exit plan, I presume all these debit are saddled now with the club. I would happily be proved wrong, sadly this thread Looks like we are heading on a one way ticket.

So a majority of this magical 5 million is his crap players and coaches, the fines his crap players accumulated and paying off various stupid initiatives. In the meantime he scrapped the academy had the Inland revenue after us broke countless promises. It still does not add up.

I think his £5m figure is dubious to say the least but that's the figure that's on the clubs accounts and therefore that's the figure that will hopefully be waived at some point in the future.

I maintain my belief that we need to savour what's left of this season as Salford as we know and love won't be around next year.
If at all.

You have already betrayed confidences by actually mentioning it😀 Might as well tell us the rest now😉
