From what I understand Toronto came in and offered us a hefty fee and GOB an increase in wages. We matched the wages, but Toronto came back and nearly doubled it. Apparently Graz didn't want to leave and is gutted , unfortunately money talks. Busy week for bleasey and watto as we need a couple of new backs and a goal kicker as well. If what you say is right we matched the first offer. Then he as lest for money. You can't blame him for that. But at the end he left for money.

What worries me with this is if we have let GOB because we only want committed people what happens when Hull KR come knocking for Lui and he asks to leave, Wigan 'enquire' about Junior or any number of our cherished players.

Don't let it worry you its a fact of life. The majority are committed until you mention money.Football's no different.

I don't blame any player for leaving if they get a better offer `moneywise` and I agree with Dixon13 that unfortunately, more often than not if bigger contracts are on offer then you have to take it. As regards GOB I really do wish him well, as I have no doubt the majority of fans. I like him as a player and whenever he was interviewed he was always courteous and professional, so all the best GOB, thanks for everything and in particular that drop goal!
Unfortunately in the current climate, we are unable to compete with others either on the pitch or who are financially stable and it is inevitable we will lose our better players. It is only a matter of time before the vultures descend and you can see comments on other boards. I read on Hull FC that they want the club to make offers for Josh & Koppy so don't be surprised to see others go. It is a shame for us die hards but that's the nature of the game. We have had some close shaves in the past and I just hope we can cling on so I say again, fingers x and get as many as you can to the game on Friday to cheer the remaining lads on.

I said in my post the majority,I still believe their are certain people not motivated just by money.I think GOB went for the money and also to play fullback.Because I still think Ian Watson thinks Evalds is the better fullback.I like you wish him all the best. But sometimes you are better with the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Purely from the point of view of the player I personally think we did very well to get that fee for him.I think Evalds is a superior fullback and mean fullback. We used GOB as an extra pivot and shoe horned him into the team at fullback to accommodate that and his goal kicking. In my opinion Evalds is superior in the positional, defensive and chiming into the line aspects of fullback play and is a superior try scorer.GOB may have been a goal kicker but he was no better than good and we dropped have a few points due to lack of goal kicking consistancy, however we do need a goal kicker now!!!!

The only good thing about O’Brien’s departure is that we’ve seen the last of the argument as to who’s the better full back. It was ,of course, O’Brien !! Close this thread NOW 👍😇😂

This is getting a little boring now as far as I am concerned, why should we disbelieve what the club have said yet believe what Paul Rowley and some agents have said? Gareth has gone and I wish him all the best but life goes on for the club and it’s supporters.

Michiganred, its not as simple as the club `just saying no`, I was down at the club this afternoon collecting my tickets and was talking to Mr Blease. His words were "well his head was turned" There are several issues here and one being if his head was turned then it was the money that turned it and if he then wishes to leave, then there is no point the club trying to get him to stay and the fact the club got a good fee for him makes it a good worthwhile business for all parties concerned. ive no doubt if his head hadn't been turned then he would have been in the squad tomorrow night. The Club were not apparently looking to off load him but the circumstances placed in front of the player and the club only meant one thing. I don't blame any sides in all of this and particularly GOB as he will have to do what`s best for him and make as much money from the deal as possible. As OSRD posted...life goes on.

From my experiences with Bleasby I distrust and dislike him intensely. Hope your right though, I really do.

For the moment I think we need to believe the statements coming out of the Club. We learnt with MK that he spoke with forked tongue but ,under new management with no axe to grind,I believe that we need to go with it. All the signs are that they are giving it to us straight and,if that proves wrong,we can change our view. The reality is that, other than Blease, the current senior personnel are short of experience in the way that rugby league ticks. Give all of them the benefit of the doubt, their hearts are in the right place

Whilst it's unlikely that the club have been 100% accurate, I wouldn't trust the words of an agent in any sport to be honest.
