A good test is Good Friday. If we defeat Hull away, I’d expect it to be a big crowd – minimum 6,500, hopefully over 8,000. If we scrambling for less than 5,000, it’s a sad state of affairs.

Well, male participation in sport, team sports in particular, has been on a downward trajectory for some time. Women participation is up, particularly in netball and football. This goes someway to explain the funding allocation.
As a society, we are tending to favour sports which can be taken part in informally (i.e. uncoached) and as an individual: road running/jogging, recreational cycling, gym etc. Athletics and cycling can stake a claim to these figures.

Jamie Peacock received a grade A charge and avoided a ban .friends in high places ? It would appear Marwan's more tactful and benign social Media approach has been in vain .. Where's the consistency?? Charnley got two matches and a £300 fine for contact with the referee last season too. It is inconsistent. If he is banned I wouldn’t bother with an independent appeal; Charnley’s case was dismissed.

The same as the current design but with a chalk penis on the back. Okay... One person’s snazzy is another person’s garish. I’d go super simple with the home shirt. Red. Just red. Turf all those sponsors logos too bar the main one. Then with the away shirt, knock yourselves out. Even forest green with white lightning hoops, if that takes your fancy.

I'm curious to know what a kit with "wow" factor looks like. The same as the current design but with a chalk penis on the back.

I read about this and it's slightly different, as it stands he hasn't registered with any other sporting club, rather he has gone back to his previous job and is earning less than a 1/4 of what he did playing Racing. Yes, but it's breaking a contract. If Racing are contesting the right to refuse a resignation in court, well, I guess they’d have no chance of success. This is perhaps why Racing are pursuing civil and criminal cases instead. The problem with the Solomona case is that, from a legal perspective, Castleford might only be able file a criminal complaint for deception. Devices such as club registrations are governed by sporting bodies, so unless the RFL and RFU agree to work together on a solution (or even the RLIF and World Rugby) i.e. giving clubs the option to uphold registrations across codes and competitions, then I think Cas might be stumped.

Try not to burden this cost yourself. See if you can set something up for donations of micropayments.

The only thing that worried me about the open day was when Ian Blease said he and Marwan are having a meeting with the RFL about marketing. It worries me because I don't think the RFL market the whole sport in any way. It's seems as non existent at Red Hall so can't figure out what they'll be able to help them with. Well the whole of the RFL’s commercial and marketing operation is now based on Salford Quays. So, they might as well pop down.

I was channel-hopping this weekend and found myself watching a game of Union - Saracens vs Wasps. I tried really hard to get into it and I wanted to understand what aspects of the game manage to get tens of thousands of paying fans to turn up week in, week out. I 'get' that the kicking is much more superior than RL but apart from that I fail to see the attraction, but something captures the imagination of the punters. After witnessing the drama of our win over KR and then the quality on show in the Super League Grand Final, it begs the question - why is Rugby League so unpopular in comparison to Union? I know that I'm a little biased, but if the RFL and Super League clubs could figure out what makes people turn up to games there's no reason why Rugby League shouldn't be able to pull in much bigger gates in the future. Thoughts? I don't think union is greatly supported at club level.Internationally yes.I have watched Salford for over 60 years and the saying was union was amateur run by professionals and league was professional run by amateurs. Not the case anymore, I’m afraid. The average attendance in last season’s Guinness Premiership was 13,611. Leicester’s home crowds average over 21,000 with most others over 10,000. The lowest home average in the league is Sale at around 6,100.

Well scoot to be honest the Brian Snape example was from a very different world and comparison is largely useless. One comparison you can make is how they dealt with the RFL. Brian Snape, along with a couple of other commercial-thinking chairmen, were also critical of the RFL and the grip that Bill Fallowfield had on the game. But Snape got involved in the management committees, earned respect on the inside, brought marketing and PR consultants in, and chaired a Rugby League chairmen’s pressure group when Fallowfield dug his heels in. They put the wheels in motion to weed out Fallowfield from the inside and, in effect, helped save the British game from financial meltdown. Koukash has largely took aim at the RFL from the outside, as some kind of rogue crusader. I think it’s safe to say that this approach has met with little success.

I'm a fan of a top-up card system. You can buy blocks of 6, 12, 18 and 24 games. The 6 and 12 game credit pack lasts for one season and the 18 and 24 game credit packs lasts for two seasons. They are good for league, cup and friendly matches. This way you can kind of have season ticket that allows you to miss matches because of fixture changes and not miss out on value so much.

You can’t go too low. I mean it’s £15 to get into Stockport County and Manchester Giants.
