I wonder if Salford will decide to move their home matchday to Friday for these Super 8s. If Sky’s policy of showing Super 8s on Thursday and Friday nights and the middle 8s on Saturday stays true, then it makes sense.

Let's talk about tracking cookies... Looks like it’s an adware/malware thing.

Just jumped on to RLFANS and looks like it's been hijacked with a load of P0RN adverts. Yeah it looks that way.

I don’t wish to labour this because 1879 is fine for that very reason. However, Cavendish and Salford were the same administration, and the lineage back to 1873 is clear. If it weren’t for the then club secretary, Archie Sutherland, Salford would have remained as Cavendish (and quite possibly perished not long afterward). Manchester United and Manchester City were established in 1878 and 1880 respectively but under different names too. In fact, Manchester United’s claim is more tenuous as Newton Heath were pretty much dead and buried in 1902 before investors salvaged the club and changed its name and colours.

There have been a few banners over the years with 1873 on. Either is fine. I wouldn’t worry about it too much

It’s up to you. I would say 1873 whereas others go with 1879 – both have valid arguments. That coat of arms is from 1974 onwards.

Sorry tony13 you are right - the Final wasn't at Central Park that year (I had a few too many beers last night so my brain isn't working much today!). Not sure what the attendance was for the Semi Final. The Rugby League Project has it as 20,600.

It's a pity we haven't assigned club numbers and Hall of Fame to all our past players, say those who've played 10 games or more. Most other clubs do this, I wonder if it could be done at the Club? It’s been raised a number of times before. It wouldn’t surprise me if something was in the works re: heritage numbers.

Good stats and a decent mix of ages, however shame there's not more of the 18-24 bracket knocking about but I presume they're all busy studying and on the lash. Whereas the majority of us who are regular posters work in offices. Forums are a bit of a relic, so it doesn’t surprise me. Perhaps if this was a subreddit there might be more in that age bracket. The gender split is a bit more surprising.

Well it was because you needed to remove or edit posts that could put us in a legal jam. Posts were merged or removed regularly when they needed to be. However, it got daft near the end (for us), especially when you’d receive PMs questioning every decision you made, were accused of bias and being in a clique. It’s not the kind of thing you need to dealing with after being in a two-hour meeting on a Monday morning.
We never wanted to moderate the type of threads that were posted or strangle debate and/or banter. Those ideals came from when the forum began in the 90s, but I suppose those were the wild west days in terms of the web.

Come on kids, play nice. Or I'll actually have to start moderating on here, something I hope I never have to do seriously as the whole point of creating this forum was to escape the un-modded RLFans madhouse. It wasn’t un-modded, per se, it just turned into a pain in the arse.

Rather than inflation, a better way to assess the difference over time is the cost in proportion to the average weekly wage. So, between the wars, for example, the cost of basic adult admission was around one-fortieth and one-sixtieth.
A fortieth of £250 = £6.25 A fortieth of £500 = £12.50 A fortieth of Salford’s ‘average’ wage of £28,500 = £14.84
Anyone fancy doing this for the 1990s?

No because it’s a name change by stealth. It may only be a matter of time before Salford is later dropped. Also, there is no guarantee newspapers and websites will list Salford in their league tables. S & Manchester, for example, would not be acceptable. Stealth bit may be valid, but the rest of your post is doom and gloom conjecture. With regards to your last point, Salford was already dropped in the last re-brand to Red Devils. If you look on popular websites at league tables they still list us as Salford Red Devils so I'm not sure your point is valid. I suppose it's all conjecture until we find out what on earth is happening... Well, the other thing that came from the fans meeting the other night was that if this option is nipped in the bud, there would be a secondary campaign to get Salford back on the club badge. So, it might linger on for some time.

You also need to acknowledge that it costs a lot more to host games these days, even if you own your own ground. The cost of policing and stewarding, for example, is much more considerable.
