Paul Charlton Gary Broadbent (Gary's wikipedia entry states that he played in the 1990s, 2000s and 1910s!)

My quote button doesn't seem to be working, so... Carnster, you said, "HKR are decent but I wouldn't say they are miles better than Widnes at the moment." To which I would say, "They don't have to be MILES better, they just have to be slightly better - and make sure they have someone who can kick a drop-goal!!

I don't know what to make of SRD at the moment. Last year, we were flying (almost) when the 12 point deduction came in and our form crashed. This year we were flying when the name change nonsense came in and our form is wobbling. After each of the last two games, I have been desperately disappointed, but surely that shows how far we have come - disappointed to lose against Hull! This season is not over by any means, but we do need a big game on Thursday. Please let us get to Wembley so I can see the Red Devils on the famous turf. If we win on Thursday, I'll be delighted and the last two games will be forgotten.

I used to go to Wembley (mostly with about 50 schoolkids in tow) from '77 to '99. Always dreamed of watching Salford there one day, but gave up on that dream about ten years ago. This year, my best friend from school is getting married on Friday, 25th August, so I'm in the UK and can easily get to the CC Final. The SL GF is in October and I work in October, so I can't get back to the UK from Crete to watch that. This makes it easy for me to say, "Challenge Cup Final, please!" But I'd really like both.

Tony, I understand your concerns re saving players etc, however this is a game that we should be going out to win in order to consolidate our top 2 position and then hopefully finish in the top 4 by the end of the season. The team have been going really well and have avoided injuries thus far, however I still think that the rotation adopted by Ian Watson has been top drawer and I will go whichever way he plays it. Yes Wakefield have some missing, but that's not a reason for us to hold anything back. If we pick up the odd knock then so be it and we can cross that bridge when we come to it, but I don't agree as regards preferring to lose this one. Lets win em all and get to Wembley. We can roate the half back partnerships and have sufficient forwards also in order to progress and win this game against a very strong squad in Wakefield and they should not under estimated in anyway, even if they have a couple missing. I think you've missed my point, which wasn't very well put. I don't want to lose this game. I was merely commenting on two possible scenarios. First, risking serious long-term injury to two players (other posters have suggested that both Lui and BMM are carrying injuries), second, having a fully-fit squad for the rest of the season. The comment about "prefering to lose this game..." was just to emphasise how much I would prefer to have a fully-fit squad for the rest of the season. I thought my final sentence should have made that clear. I want us to win this game. Just not at the expense of the rest of the season. Redjack probably put it better than I did. We have the squad depth to rotate players, so why risk them? If Lui is carrying an injury (I don't know if that is even true), then play Dobson and Carney. It won't weaken the team. (I do know that every player risks serious injury every time they play, but we should try hard to minimise that risk.) Anyway, I am loving this season. Let's keep winning.

If Lui or BMM are not fully fit, rest them. I'm not underestimating Wakefield, here, it's just that I'd rather have them available for selection over the next few weeks than blocking hospital beds as they recover from surgery. To be honest, I'd prefer to lose the game while keeping our players fit than win this one and then lose half a dozen due to injuries. (I'd really rather win every game from now till the end of time, but if compromise is necessary, I'd compromise)

Admit it.... you were tempted by "Snog" & "Marry"! One for the under 40's that..😉 Ouch - that smarts. I was 40 on 12th May - I still got it though!!!! Maybe 41 Year olds didn't........... Well, this 64 year-old did. But, then, I am young at heart and getting younger with each successive Salford win!

I thought the "green card" was brilliant. Is there something we should know? Is the relocation actually to Manchester, New Hampshire, and Weller is the first to get his green card? At half-time we were 'treated' to an open mike. Twenty minutes of background crowd noise with occasional snatches of conversation. RF was obviously talking to someone on the phone or by radio link and we got one half of the conversation - RF's half. I lost count of the number of times he said "Warrington" when he should have said "Salford" - the Warrington fans jumping up and down was only one such.
He has been a great servant to the game, but it is definitely time to hand the mike to someone younger. I do think the game should look after him, though. Invite him to games as a VIP guest, but keep him in the hospitality suites, as far from the mike as possible.

I, too, listened to that rubbish. It was embarrassingly bad. Anyone new to the game would be wondering what on Earth was going on. Time to go, Ray.

Cheers guys. The one thing that struck me was the "there are no egos now" comment. Who is Olsi referring to? I assume one of these egos would be Rangi Chase, but who else? Don't know. You should, perhaps, ask him. Then again, better not. Speculation, but ... Locke, Smith (Tim, not Matty), Hock? Not sure Hock was an ego problem, but he was a problem. Damn fine player when he wanted to be, though.

Thanks again, bgm and Olsi! Three answers in the middle struck me. 1, no egos; 2, I'll play where I'm needed; 3, happy to do what's best for the team. Great attitude.

What has been your best moment in rugby and what has been your best moment in a Salford shirt? (They might be the same.)
