I'd go with Astleyred with a little bit of a tweak. I think that the top four should start with a few points advantage as although home field is a an advantage but personally I don't think it is quite enough. Perhaps the league winner should start on 4 points, 2nd - 3 points, 3rd - 2 points and 4th 1 point. That way you have a good advantage and reward for doing well in the league but the bottom four of the top eight still have some chance of making the final however they would have to seriously work to do it. Sadly last year there were too many teams with absolutely nothing to play for at the end of the season so there were just a bunch of meaningless games. I think this is the best proposal I've heard. I'm sure Wigan would go for this too. At least it gives all team some hope of making the top four playoffs for Old Trafford.

Well my son is now hooked!! 1st Salford game today and he can't stop singing the songs now. Started off just me an him but because it was his first game his mum ended up coming and his grandad!! What a day and what 40 mins from 20-60!!! Anyway tickets for next Sunday purchased as well!! Lots of kids there today which was nice to see. Was there some sort of deal on? I took my 4 year old lad today and he absolutely loved it. I treated him to his first Salford top and he is still wearing it with pride. He also loved playing rugby with other kids near the marquee after the game. Great performance and fantastic day. Likewise tickets purchased for next Sunday too. I noticed a lot of kids there today which is a good thing and shows the future is bright for the club. Great news having two more younger fans. Welcome to the mad world of being a Salford Fan One thing I noticed today and really pleased me was the variation in "Our Move" in the backline. Over the last few weeks teams have done their homework and read what we are going to do and we've carried on doing it. Today both Gaz & Rob saw that Huddersfield had read (or over read) the move and cut back inside to score. Really pleased to see some proper coaching for once putting more doubt in the opposition defensive plans.

I'm astounded by this decision if true. We've built a team on the field over the last two years based on hard working players and a tremendous play for the team ethic. This can be seen by the players singing our own songs in the changing room after the game. The two "major" signings we've had in the Marwan era have been Kevin Locke and Daniel Vidot. Both crocked player who had absolutely no impact on moving Salford forward as a team. In fact due to the financial outlay and some off field antics moved us backwards. Now we're looking at doing it all over again. Nothing against Manu who when fit is an absolute beast of a player and looks a thoroughly nice bloke. I'll support him like any other Salford player but is this a high risk strategy or what? It could potentially destabilise the team ethic we have created.

Can't imagine any Normal owner telling players they are quitting during a season with so much to play for. If this was true I think we would have lost a lot more players than we did. Either way the club could have done a lot more to keep him. This just seems like another bullshit story that always seems to happen at Salford. Edited for accuracy.

I'd agree that we lack pace but Watson obviously prefers outside backs that run over opponents rather than run around them. We had two of the fastest players in Superleague and he chose to show them the door. Watson's coaching style is definitely in the same mould as Lee Radford and Brian Noble. Not for the purist's who appreciate skill, speed and agility or as as entertaining to watch but effective. I'm not sure MCB was shown the door. The story I heard was, that last year Marwan told the players that he was quitting at the end of the season and that they were free to find other clubs. Obviously Tim Sheens went to Hull KR and Mason got a contract at Wakey. I believe we wanted him back and he wanted to come earlier in the season when he wasn't getting a game. Just the sort of player we need, young, keen, English and learning all the time.

What about signing this fella up? He looks vaguely familiar but with a bit less hair. Look at the run about 1.50 in Link

McGuire was sin-binned for dissent in the aftermath of Greg Eden's try in Friday's home defeat by Castleford and has now been hit with a grade C charge of foul language towards the match official. The half-back has the option of submitting an early guilty plea, which would mean an automatic two-match ban, or could opt to fight the charge at a disciplinary hearing in Leeds on Tuesday. it's looking like that he'll miss our match, what a bounder! Jimmy Only a Leeds or Wigan player can get a one match ban for a Grade C Offence (2 or 3 Match ban). Was uncle Gary & Aunty Cath on the board? The RFL disciplinary is an absolute joke and should be replaced with three wise monkeys. Imagine a Salford, Wakefield or Leigh player appearing for the same offence! I'm sure they'd get away with a one match ban.

Was on holiday a couple of weeks ago in Montenegro. Well planned as we were at home in the Quarter Final of the Cup to Wakey. The owner of the apartment picked myself and the lady wife up from the airport on the wednesday so I asked where in Tivat they would have Sky Sports on. Getting my priorities in place right from the start! He said that occasionally they had the odd Football game on but he didn't think I'd get the Rugby on. When we arrived at the apartment he gave us the key and asked me to follow him to a cafe bar downstairs that wasn't yet open. Lo and behold he had a "Dodgy Box" which we managed to get Sky Sports UK on. Next day he came from his house where he was attending a Birthday party, brought the box up to my Room and set it up. Top man all round. So I managed to watch the Quarter final in Montenegro. Anyone else got any stories of travelling and managing to catch a game? A follow up to this tale. The Owner of the apartment started watching some of the game with us and asked me if anyone was there? That's because there was lots of action showing the backdrop of the totally empty East Stand. This is the worst PR for our great club and should be looked at! On a positive note I'm pleased to see some exotic places in the list of viewing locations for our great club

1-Salford v Oldham not live, but a recording in a Bondi beach bar Sydney. 2-Salford v London Broncos live in an Irish bar in Kiev, Ukraine. My mate from Blackley worked at the UK embassy there as the Commercial Attache and asked them the bar staff in Russian. The Ukrainian Secret Service man who followed us everywhere must have had a bemused evening. 3- A Magic weekend v Widnes in a bar in Majorca, the only 3 people in there until a coach load off Jocks came in expecting to see the Scottish Cup Final, and much to their annoyance, the barman wouldn't change the channel because we were in first. Got some hard looks from before they left well pissed off. Made the win even sweeter. Jimmy Jimmy, Like the second two. Especially the Ukraine one. Can't imagine a Secret service agent watching me two weeks ago. I'd probably have been locked up for celebrating too much Also remember watching our Challenge Cup game against Leigh a couple of years ago in Brussels. Four of our rugby mates got in really early to ensure we got the game on and started drinking Leffe. We left gone midnight after spending about 11 hours in the place. Not the best game but a great session on the Leffe.

Absolutely delighted Rob's signed a new contract. He's one of our standout players who makes the team tick. Highlight for me this year was his length of the field try.

For me Rob Lui was MOM last night and I don't think personally that was the correct thing to do but he shouldn't be singled out for that poor play selection. We created the position to win as a team and blew it as a team. Taking the positive at least we went to St Helens and nearly won. Yes we've lost three league games on the bounce and should have won two of them. We've progressed really well as a team the next step is to improve our game management.
Also let's look forward to a CC semi final.

To me I think we're missing two parts of what's made us good this yer. Firstly it's the go forward in the first two or three tackles with players such as Johnson, Carney and Josh Jones. Secondly it's the tightness in the defence with Flash and Logan Tomkins Missing. I think Logan is a double miss because when he starts it allows us to bring Kris Brining on when defences are a bit more tired. I think if we throw in Lee Mossop being out for the season who was playing really well it explains some of our shortcomings last night. We've not got a big squad so hopefully we'll have a few back for the cup game.

Good video showing the difference between so called "Super Stars" and what we now have is a Super Team.
Let's hope we can keep going tonight.
