MK did state that for Watson to have more players, after running short last year, then he had to cut down on star players to get numbers. So I would assume the money goes in the pot. Especially as there will probably be no subsidy from MK. So in one sense he does save but it's probably, at this stage, the only way for the Club to keep up with progress (plus letting Todd Carney go).
I would have thought if he'd wanted to sell the assets he'd have taken everything to another club. Which he rightly did not do....he's a custodian not a tyrant.
It's one of the four ways we can generate money...our Sky/RFL money, benefactors and sponsorship, gate receipts and season tickets and buy cheap sell high. We have also reduced operating costs apparently.
This is what lower level football clubs do all the time. So BMM is good business, sadly.

Not good business very bad business in fact.If Westerman is worth 130.000 to Toronto. At that rate BMM is worth at least 400.000.not a penny less.

Had a word with IB Dixon, he's ringing you in the morning so you can do the negotiating. We need the money.

Toronto are paying silly money for players who are not SL standard. Back in the real world 170k for BMM plus his wages is a good deal.

The days of large fees is over. What has been put on the table, if correct, is about as sizeable as you're going to get in this day and age. We should be thankful he hasn't got 'homesick' been released, then signed for Wire. At least Wire are doing it correctly.

Been weighing it up and I think it will be the most gutted I've been to see a player leave.

He's had 2/3rds of a good season out of the 2 he's been here, don't get me wrong I'd like to keep him but I don't get all of this doom and gloom about it. I'd be more upset about lui or or sau personally.

I don't think he'll be at the top for three seasons, his knee like Lui's is not the best. In cold terms if we get good replacements, good business.
Thought Wakefields buy for Horo was a good one and they've got a great Auss hooker and Baldwinson. So with Johnson the winger to come back they'll be a team to watch next year.
And remember 5 years ago Castleford were about 3 minutes from being in a real mess and losing all they had.
So Chang we need to use the money from BMM, Carney and Dobson to get breadth of the right age, Watson says 23 years of age,in the squad. Just wish we had Sheens or Kear to help with guiding us to the right players. And this year's probable man of steel was effectively a reject.
So let's wait and see.

Other clubs approach. permission is given or denied. Fees are agreed or disagreed. A prospective club will offer what they want to pay versus what they think he's worth. Remember, in the day and age of contracts meaning very little, any club that abides by the actual rules is to be commended in this situation. Salford either put a huge fee on him to make a potential transfer very lucrative. Which is only viable if the club is not struggling for cash. Which is certainly not us. It then becomes a mind game of whether to lose the income or get the best deal for it. The fact that clubs simply don't bother with transfer fees these days tells you all you need to know about the precarious nature of transfers. You simply can't out-price yourself unrealistically or risk offers being withdrawn. We are not being taken for a ride. Offers will be realistic under the current climate. They have to be to be taken seriously. Throwing ridiculous fees around is just something that fans do, in reality it will be somewhat more conservative.

Do you think anyone any good would want to come to the club at present.I can't see us selling many season tickets on Bennions arrival can you. I'm willing to trust Watson on the Bennion signing, he's obviously seen a fair bit of him in the championship so let's hope he's more a Josh Griffin/Krasniqi type signing than the couple of duffers we got from Swineton a few years back! (Forster & Menzies) As for BMM I'd be devastated to see him go. Some amazing performances and still so much potential to develop into a top top 2nd row. Suppose we're going to have to try and replicate the 2005 team which was all about the squad being more than the sum of it's parts. If we can get 3 good players in to replace Ben then the squad will ultimately be stronger, we'll just be missing that bit of X factor he brings to the table. The fact it's Wire who are reportedly signing him makes it 10x worse. I could live with HKR but I hate Wire with a passion and it would kill me to see him lining up for them. They're all cracking one out already on the Wire forum and hailing Agar as some sort of Messiah for his part in the alleged deal. I'll tell you this, I'd love it, love it if it wasn't true!!
