How can someone who goes into the tackle with a raised elbow meaning the player he hit does not play for the rest of the game, then get MOM Sky and the RFL are bent and everyone knows it

Didn't even get a penalty. Child's is a joke. Heavily penalised again, some right but when they messed about at the play the ball he didn't bother.

Stop playing Child's down. By the end of the match he learned 2 new rules; offside, apparently if your team are off side for 75 minutes the opposition gets a penalty to appease the crowd and forward pass but only with 2 minutes to go.
How ever did we end up with 12 and them with 13? No wonder people don't want to come watch the game. He is total joke, just gives unnecessary penalties around the play the ball and the big decisions - not able to man up. And he got a pizza!

Just don't listen to the sky commentary when it happened...
I don't know what or when Terry O'Connor became such an anti-Salford advocate considering his history, but his comments were embarrassing. From insisting that it was his shoulder even though everyone on earth can see his elbow hit first. To the rambling 'players can't run without swinging their arms' defense. Which fails to address why there isn't an elbowing incident every other tackle in every game.
His defense of something that is indefensible was cringe-worthy.

It beggars belief how Walmsley gets put on report and Lannon gets a straight red. Both should have been sent off.
Lannon's elbow was stupid, but if Childs' had got a handle on the game it wouldn't have got to that stage in the first place.

Just seen the first Walmsley try on Sky highlights. Slowed it down and he has his elbow again Walnes chin.
Seems like he does this all the time. Thought leading with the elbow outlawed.

I like O'connor as a pundit and he speaks a lot of sense mostly, but his take on Walmsley last night was outrageous.

What I honestly don't get is what part of the multiple slow motion replays with first Childs and then the video ref not see and think leading with the elbow?
The way it erupted a couple of times after was solely down to the bad management of that one incident.

Slow down his first try, it's even worse. Again on Walne's head.

I actually think Child's officiating was influenced by the fact Saints had something to play for last night and we didn't. Yes he made some correct calls but it was the imbalance, inconsistency and timing of those decisions that helped influence the outcome of a game. Some of those back to back penalties were very pedantic calls in my opinion. Furthermore what was the difference between the Walmsley and the Watts elbow incidents recently? I honestly don't know and I think the decision not to send him off was based on Walmsley being a high profile 'English SL player' missing a potential semi-final. Putting him on report was simply a cop out by James Child based on emotion. It was the wrong decision based on a similar incident recently but he's human and were all influenced by emotion.

The question for me is why did he put the incident on report? If it was for a suspect elbow why was there no penalty for Salford? That incident, Wlamsleys elbow to the head swung what should have been a one man advantage to Salford the other way round. Child picked up on so many minor incidents but missed a massive call. In all other Sky games this season when there's such an incident the fourth official advises the referee of the severity and he takes action. Not in this case, why? I think the part that galls me the most is the one sided refereeing this year. When two teams are effectively doing the same things lying on, slowing down the play the balls, offside etc and only one team are penalised. I think it was 9 or 10 penalties to one last night at half time. How can any side compete when it's an uneven playing field. Answer they can't. I'd also like to say that the lads fought valiantly last night in spite of the one sided refereeing. Well done.

Yes Child's always penalises the bits round the play the ball. St Helens were offside, as Wigan are, most of the night. At one stage a couple of players were 4/5 yards in front of him but only one given against SH. And forward passes are a thing of the past.
Good refs warn players round the play the ball to keep it fair but somebody must have bought Child's a new whistle. He wants to be seen.
The best reffing at home this year was Bentham in the game against Cas. Didn't know a ref was there, he kept warning the players but the game flowed.
Childs and a few other refs want to be seen to stamp their authority but it kills the game. They'll realise too late that this is why fans don't come. Think Watto wants to get the team playing on the edge of offside at the play the ball, as others do and get away with it.

But we are told that these things even themselves up over a season. There must be a lot of the season left if that's the case.

An absolute joke of a disciplinary system.

As I said earlier have a look at Walmsleys first try in slow motion, before this incident, he clearly hits the Salford player full in the face with his elbow. He's not clumsy, he's playing daft.
