As much as this was expected, still gutted to see him go. Very underrated, very important player for us. Hope we replace him well!!
Fair dos for his reasons, really think he could be a great coach, good luck Dobbo!!

Does this mean that Carney is likely to stay and play regularly in the halves, or are we lining up a replacement? Best of luck to him.

Easily the best buy of the Koukash era for me and unless we go Marquee nearly impossible to replace.
Carney I just don't see as an organiser and planner like Dobson on his day undoubtedly brilliant and talented but goes missing far too often.
Declan Patton with the best will in the world is not going to be the answer nor would GOB moving back to the halves, a shopping trip to the NRL is needed.
Wouldn't surprise me if he gets a lower scale NRL contract and moves on to become a high quality coach.

Without doubt the best rugby brain at Salford since Dunemann. I've lost count of the number of times Dobson was the last man tracking back when the opposition made a break. He reads the game so well, sadly his legs were starting to fail him. Some 'fans' gave him some awful stick during his time here. They will miss him now he's gone and should let us all in on the secret as to who we possibly replace him with...

Easily the best buy of the Koukash era for me I have to agree, hes been a model professional for us, given us 100% All the best for the future Dobbo. IF Carney leaves, it leaves us with Lui and GOB, presuming Patton arrives I would still like us to go for another established half with Dobbos organisational skills. Again i have to agree with MR - an Australian is the way to go

Ian Laybourn from The Independent linking us with a move for Luke Walsh or Trent Hodkinson captain of Newcastle Knights (although he has been linked with Wire well before this)
Luke Walsh is an outstanding player at times but very injury prone.

I do wonder how long the club have known about this and have already done recruitment spade work?
If I were Salford I would use him as a club ambassador in the NRL, he is held in high regard so having any possible recruits speak with him about the club, the area and relocating to SL.

there's little to add to the statements on the website: I had heard that he was going but did not believe it.
My heartfelt thanks
and especially for the shout to GOB in extra time nearly a year ago.

Will be sorely missed.
Big chunk of cap freed-up but we need to replace him with someone of equal stature. Patton and Lui for next season? I can't see Patton coming to us to play second fiddle. Carney to go back home as well?
Will make for an interesting off season.

I just hope we have a top quality replacement lined up. Carney hasn't done it for us and I can't see him ever doing it to be honest. I don't think Saints reject Luke Walsh is the answer and I just hope we go large for top half with pace and a high quality kicking game.

I just hope we go large for top half with pace and a high quality kicking game. I'm glad you mentioned pace - sadly on too many occasions this season particularly Dobbo broke the line and didnt have the pace to finish it off.

Given that Watto has said that the club knew about this in pre-season, you have to hope that plans are already afoot to replace Dobbo.

The boy has been a good servant to Super League. But I agree with your sentiments.

Not much I can add to what's already been said - he's done really well for us and will be sorely missed. Hope everything goes well for him back home in Oz. Should be interesting to see who will replace him, and whether Carney stays or goes.
