Sad news that Chris Hesketh has passed away.
There will be a tribute to Chris at tonight's game. Lets do him proud.

I'm old enough to have watched him for many many games: a great man and a great player. Utterly saddened.

I was also fortunate to see him at his best - which was the highest standard.
Very sad news.

Always chasing down the potential rebound from a penalty kick. Must have had a success rate of about 0.0006% because I only ever saw him score one try from all those efforts in all the years he played for Salford.

How we need his skills today. Chris has attended some games this year and said that he did score against Castleford in the 1969 final, a try dis-allowed on the day.
Yes a great player.

Chris was a great player,a great person, and was a great clubman and it was fitting that he was part of the Willows Memories that was held at the Quays Theatre Lowry Centre on the evening of the Wigan semi final. I remember one event when Chris was really taken aback at the reception that he received by Salford fans old and new he couldn't get his head round the fact that so many people remembered him so many years after he finished playing. RIP Chris

Terrible news, one of lifes nicest guys.
Remember when we (myself and Eric The Red) went to a book signing of Chris's at the Willows and the moment Chris spotted Eric he dropped everything and was over to chat like long lost Brothers, some of their anecdotes were not to be repeated in public classics.
Massive RIP.
