Link doesn't work. I had problems with the telegraph site last week too. This would be a real coup if we managed to get him! Quality player.

Link doesn't work. I had problems with the telegraph site last week too. This would be a real coup if we managed to get him! Quality player. Yeah it worked once then doesn't. Weird. I'll copy and paste the guts of it... KEVIN Naiqama no longer plays for Newcastle, but his hometown links could help him seal a contract with Salford in the English Super League. The Daily Telegraph can reveal the Red Devils contacted Knights coach Nathan Brown last week to conduct a reference check on Naiqama, just days before the Wests Tigers defeated Newcastle. During Brown’s six years in England with Huddersfield and St Helens, the former Dragons hooker built a friendship with Salford chairman and owner Marwan Koukash. It’s why Koukash phoned the Newcastle coach to inquire about Naiqama — who is off-contract at season’s end. Naiqama’s manager Darryl Mather confirmed the Tigers flyer was in the sights of the Red Devils for next season and beyond. “I spoke to Nathan (Brown) last week, because I was pitching Kevin to him,” Mather revealed. “He told me Salford phoned him about Kevin, because his kids went to the same school as the owner. “Salford have done a reference check, so I’m expecting something (an offer) from them soon. “Their CEO wrote to me and I wrote back outlining some broad terms and they indicated they would check with the coach and the owner.” Mather said Naiqama’s preference was to remain in the NRL, but was open to change. The Tigers have also signed a number of outside backs for next season, including Taane Milne, Malakai Watene-Zelezniak and Mahe Fonua. This could squeeze Naiqama out and it’s why he is keeping all his options open according to Mather. “Kevin would obviously prefer to stay in the NRL and I think he is at that level, but that said it’s more frequent that you can go over to England and come back,” he said. “It isn’t what it used to be when you went to England and you couldn’t come back. “I’ve just sent Peta Hiku to Warrington and if you had said that to me at the start of the year, I would have said, ‘never in your life’. “But you just don’t know in this game. “At this stage, we’ve got to keep an open mind.”

Just asked Moley - he said that Naiqama isn't going to Warrington Wolves (as previously rumoured), so there could be a chance.

Hell yes, that would do very nicely, he has the strength of Carney and the speed of a MCB/Johnson and would score for fun in Super League.
Suspect he would be our first Marquee signing.

A quick glance at his twitter account and while he's not a regular user, one of his latest follows is Junior Sau and he also has a relative (Wes - Brother?) already in the UK. He would be an excellent signing!!!

aren't we up to quota already? Sau, Tasi, Lui, BMM, Hasson, Carney. Dobson and/or Hauraki have exemptions I believe. Which gives us either one spot remaining or one of the above is leaving. I'd hazard a guess that Carney will be away back to the NRL at seasons end anyway. That either frees-up one or two spaces depending.

From what I've seen we should be having a collection for Hasson's boat fare as we speak, obviously willing to come over but just doesn't look up to the required standards. Does make you wonder if they already know that Vatuvei is just a very short term measure to add that go forward in the first couple of tackles for the rest of the season, also wrote elsewhere that good as prospect as Bibby is can see him being way out of his depth in a CC semi & final.

Yes you'd hope that Watto and the coaching staff send Hasson back down under, trust there judgement though apparently he wasn't too bad at Saints (Couldn't make the game)

You have to give him time. Look how Walne's improved this season. Is Hasson signed on just for this year?
Must admit I think I like Murray in preference tho.

We have better in the squad already, Lannon, Walne, Krasniqi, Griffin, BMM, Hauraki and JJ are all better in the 2nd row and a few of them I'd take in the front before him also.

Where I disagree with the Vatuvai signing this would really excite me and add so much more to the team. Yes Please

Can Vatuvei play in the semi?
Naiqama would be great!
Does he play on the same side of the paddock as Derrell?
Just thought of a marketing possibility: with a back-line of Sau, Vatuvei, Olpherts and Naiqama
"The Devil's a beast with Four Heads!" Good,eh?
