Thought I'd start this thread following on from a post with russ in another. I've always wondered how deviltalk users chose their username. Mine is because I used to listen to a lot of ska-punk, a genre that lasted all of 5 minutes in the 90's. Its the name of an album by a Hispanic/Californian band named Voodoo Glow Skulls. I'm sure you've heard of them...! My avatar is the logo of a rockabilly-punk band named Cobra Skulls. What is the logic behind your username?

Mine is just my nickname.
A derivative of my surname, Carney.

Jimmy Hardacre signed for Salford as a Prop in the 60's from either Metrovick RLFC or St Anne's in Oldham, I can't quite remember which. Jimmy never quite made it as a first team regular, but he always gave his best and we saw a lot him as we also watched the A team most weeks. I hitched it to Knowsley Road to watch Salford one Saturday afternoon from the top of Lancaster Road as a teenager and I was given a lift to the ground by Jimmy and his family. A great bloke.

I'm sure you've heard of them...! I vaguely recall seeing the Voodoo Glow Skulls in the wee room at Manchester Students Union. Was it the called Hop & Grape? I was madly into the Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the time, convinced they were geniuses. Time has not been desperately kind tbh. My name was from Harry Hill's blue cat and was chosen way back when the Turkey started up. Again, at the time I was convinced he was a genius...

Yes, it was the Hop and Grape and I saw them a few times in there back in the day! Nothing wrong with the Bosstones! And here's me thinking you were named after a frozen meal. haha!

Steve Davis, 6 time world snooker champion was nicknamed "Romford Slim" (assuming because he was a slight fella). I quite liked it so nicked the "Slim" part and added it to my hometown, hence "Salford Slim". I play in a local darts league and most people address me as "Slim" which is ironic seeing as I'm a bit on the portly side these days.
Always makes me laugh when people say "why do they call you Slim because you're not Slim?" and completely miss the irony!😂

Ok - here we go.
I not quite sure of why the Hell I'm Jeff McRib. But from what I can recall....
Back in ninety four-ish (ouch that hurts) The Tarantino classic, Pulp Fiction was doing the rounds and I remember calling my mate Vince (after Vince Vega - his real name is James). I think that at almost the same time, he then started calling me Jeff. (No idea why, possibly panic and went for as random name as he could think of)
The names, for some reason, stuck and 23 years later we still call each other and Vinny and Jeff. Awwwww (I'm sure it's a bezzy mates thing) McRib? Once again, the nineties kick in and many a visit for a McRib meal at Maccy D's in Stockport's Grand Central. Great days, great times!

When I was at school, and pretty much everywhere I've worked ever since people have shortened my surname to Keev and called me that. People do also add Big to it on occasion, on account of me being reasonably well built. So there, please feel fee to cower under the weight of the Labyrinthine cunning it took to come up with my username.

As some might know once I met someone dumbarse enough to marry me, we was from Saginaw Michigan and all this kind of happened when the Turkey was in it's fledgling years so it was an amalgamation of my love for the States and for Salford. Separated (calling her a dumbarse I can't think why it didn't last)long ago but thought all the old haters from the Turkey might like the opportunity to follow me here and maintain their love affair. Did contemplate a name change but handsome bastard and Donkey D were both taken
