Fairly simple: moved to Rochdale some 26 years ago having become disillusioned with the daily trek from T'Heights to Royton. As you may expect, began to visit pubs. When someone where I lived in Dale and I replied, they all seemed to have relatives near me. After a year or so, I'm sure I could hear banjos as soon as anyone opened their mouth. So adopted the name. Red: obvious : true Salfordian - rugby, soccer, cricket and politics are all red. As an aside, has my area changed in those 26 years!

Astleyred more or less explains itself, having moved here a couple of years back.
My previous pseudonym Dirkdiggler I'll leave to your imagination with this being a family forum ;-)

Nickname derived from surname. It started at primary schoo in the 70s and still gets used by some of my closest mates to this day.

When at the Willows a gang of us always stood directly behind the posts, even when we changed ends at HT. Hence, Always Behind The Sticks (abts).

I feel a bit left out, not using Salford or red in my name... I'm simply the most violent travel agent in the world (for fans of Bottom).
