Had a rather interesting conversation with an ex Salford player today, he in a nutshell said that the name change idea was nothing at all to do with the Doc but it is Robbie Paul filling his head with ideas that big backers will fall over themselves to be associated with the club all of a sudden. This came from a recent media engagement where they both worked together.
The player in question knows Paul rather well and said he couldn't understand his logic with regards this situation.

How about if Paul was taken on to get corporate clients but couldn't manage it. So they won't come on board because of the name, soi'll earn more money if we do a survey to look at changing the name? Feasible?

The survery wasn't mentioned just the fact that Paul was really banging on about the name change being the key, obviously he couldn't foretell what happened in Manchester last week, the subsequent offer and publicity this generated for Salford.
Would love to be a fly on the ball on the meeting to discuss the next move.

Both are feasible, it seems it is possibly Paul pushing this rather than koukash. Which is potentially why Paul is telling people this is a done deal and Koukash is maintaining its just one of a number of ideas.
We just need to keep doing what we're doing, positivity about Salford alongside defiance about name change.
I saw yesterday the mayor mentioned he was up for more involvement re the Salford name, which would be great!

I don't think Koucash takes notice of anyone,he has had plenty of time to put this to bed.I think he will do it come hell or high water. And if he does I for one will not be blaming RHP.

Worryingly League Freak on Twitter banging on about massive changes re location coming and if I follow it properly a buyer from North America looking at Widnes just for the franchise.

Think it went under the radar with many but Chris Morley put something on antisocial media Saturday saying he has been told by Blease that it is a certainty that it is Manchester Red Devils and they will play at Citys ground. Later says the RFL are pushing for the name change and relocation so you'd think if true they would help with costs of things and promotion.
Ever so worried.

I noticed that social media went in to it's usual meltdown following our defeat yesterday. Coincidence?

TBH after that shambles of a turnout yesterday I just don't believe 99% of Salfordians give a flying f*ck about the club. Really p1sses me off that 1200 or so can get to Wigan or Warrington away yet we barely muster double that for a home game when you take the away support out of the equation.
And I'm sick to death of the excuses tbh. We'd won 11 of 12 before yesterday, played a great style of attacking rugby and with a Sunday afternoon kick off, lovely weather and £10 tickets there was absolutely no excuse for a crowd of 3200.
Oh hang on.... my bad.... must have been the benefit gig at the cricket ground that affected numbers. After all our fan base is 95% 12yo girls.😕 Let's just enjoy the rest of the season guys cos it may be the last as we know it.

I'm now resigned to this happening, all I'd hope from the Doc is doing it with dignity as I'd like my final year watching Salford to be a celebration and not for things to be changed after the season has ended.

Really p1sses me off that 1200 or so can get to Wigan or Warrington away yet we barely muster half that for a home game when you take the away support out of the equation. And I'm sick to death of the excuses tbh. Couldn't agree more, the turn out was dire, sure the gigs, football and Irlam festival will have had an effect but not massively so. Maybe also people are not confident of public travel and being in large groups with all that is happening in the country. You could tell before KO that the atmosphere was odd, very flat with virtually no fan noise.

We can't just give up, don't forget this time last season he had decided he was walking away and he's still here. His mind is made for changing, if we give up it certainly will be a done deal.
Where was all the marketing promised for the game? The buses and signs used last time? Where were the posters etc? Being cynical that marketing piece they put out on the website last week was a case of saying look look we have marketed. Bullmud.
We should have had more there, but we don't hold out much hope if there is 0 marketing.

WTF is that?!😂 Half a dozen stalls and an ice cream van?😉 If people want to spend a few quid on a tombola and some overpriced microbrewery beer rather than come and watch the best Salford team in 30 years then they're a bigger bunch of clowns than I thought. Seriously, it's getting beyond a joke now. I love this club despite al it's failings but the Salford public don't deserve it. A good mate of mine who followed the club religiously through the glory years has been saying all season he'll be getting to a few games and despite the numerous ticket offers he lets me down every week with excuse after excuse. I've even offered to pay for his beers at the game but he can't be ar$ed getting out of his armchair. Pretty much sums up our "great" city tbh.

The Doc is not an idiot. He trusts the wrong people sometimes, Noble was his worst, but in the end gets it right. He has definitively said he won't move (and we have a 25 year lease I think). RHP will be found out.
Yesterday MU had a full house, the concert was full, Irlam festival full, Trafford Centre full and 6 games in 25 days, the RL have made a mess of things again, another 2 matches in less than a week and both on tv; too any matches at the moment. Not excuses, facts. Let's be positive and enjoy what we have.
On the match we stupidly gave them a 16 point start and nearly won with a tired team.

still nothing official so for me at the minute it's all just rumours. However, I still can't see a name change. As for the stadium, yes we're tied to a 25 year lease but there must be a break clause and the Council will be then be left with an empty stadium to find a use for. Also as the smaller stadium at Etihad keeps getting muted, the capacity there is 7000 so if the Doc wants bigger crowds why move to a smaller ground?
