Today is International Day of Happiness, and it's good to see the team doing their bit to add to worldwide happiness (well, local happiness) yesterday. Seriously though, who's idea was it to have a Day of Happiness on a Monday?

Seriously though, who's idea was it to have a Day of Happiness on a Monday? You think you've got it bad? Think about that poor George Osborne. He has to hold down six jobs just to keep him and his family in mink coated caviar. That's six Monday mornings each week.

I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

I worked for a large company with a German parent company heavily involved in shall we say gaseous products, did make the mistake of asking about their history only to be told not to as there are some glaring gaps in middle of 20th century.

I also have a large number of German colleagues that I work with regularly and they are (fortunately) really relaxed when it comes to their early 20th Century exploits.
One time, I was sitting with Sven at lunch as he had travelled to the UK from DE for a quick visit. Another 6 of them turned up and sat on the same table as us. He dead pan looked me in the eye and said, "It's a mini German invasion. We try this every now and again, but most of the time it doesn't work."
How do you reply to that? I just put my head down and quietly p1ssed myself.

Went to an Allianz insurance presentation in Munich with a dozen other Brits. One of their Directors said that their aim was to be number one or two in all European countries, except Poland where he said, without a hint of irony that it wasn't possible because they got there too late. A muffled titter went round the group.

The Grapes in Eccles in a previous guise used to have a comedy night occasionally, once they had a German guy on.
Some of the heckles were a hell of a lot better than his material.
