I do wonder if there on any level is unease from the players about the name change/no name change? I doubt it has any effect on players or staff. It's about the game to the players. Remember that players rarely stay loyal to one club. It's about their journey, not the clubs they play for. A fact of modern sports. Taking my WUM hat off for a minute, I also agree with this. I can't see a name change causing too much of a knock-on effect with the players. They thrive off us, the fans, and our ability to motivate them on match days. I really hope Lui stays and signs a new contract. I was nonplussed about him at the start of the season and I've been proven wrong.

I do wonder if there on any level is unease from the players about the name change/no name change? I believe you raise a valid point. In any team sport (whether it be Rugby League, football, cricket) it is extremely rare to see the team in the dressing room after singing the club anthem of the fans. Maybe a generic celebration song but not the fans terrace song. It's been very pleasing and refreshing to see our players singing 'Salford Reds arising' in the dressing a few times this season after epic wins. Does that tell us something? I happened to meet a player's dad (I won't name him) in the 1873 Club at the Hull game as he joined us on our table at half time. The name change rumour was brought up in conversation. He was certainly hoping it wouldn't happen so maybe gives an indication how his son feels.

As for the team song, well, we didn't have one so the adoption of the terrace song was a natural fit. It's something that RL teams have done for years. I remember having a team song at Oldham St Annes back in the dawn of time when I played there. I think most players if they were honest would say that they wouldn't want a name change. However, if it was to happen you'd see them saying positive things rather than negative. it's part of their job to be focused on the future rather than the past. To be fair to the players, the whole re-brand thing is not their remit. They're there to play and win, regardless. I'd wager a large amount of money that no players will officially say anything negative. It's not really their job.

We're in a strong position to be recruiting. I think we only need 2 or 3 to strengthen the squad but I'd hope targets are identified and progressing in the background. Is anyone worried about lack of signings ? Maybe it's depends on Lui and/or Evalds.

Brad Dwyer to Salford has been mentioned on the warrington board , by a Salford fan though That would be a weird one. We've just re-signed Tomkins and have the rising star at hooker with Brining. Got to be testicles that one.

... Is anyone worried about lack of signings ? Not in the slightest. Probably the reverse in fact. The clubs that are recruiting - like Leigh and Warrington - are doing so because they desperately need to do so. Clubs down the bottom end of the table tend do the heaviest recruitment, with clubs in the upper half doing much less, purely because they don't need to. Salford's lack of recruitment is a sign of their position in the table. What they have done is tie down most of the first team squad on long term deals, and the continuity that that affords has surely got to be better than the constant chopping and changing that we usually see. Also, which positions do you feel need strengthening, and who is available that would be better than the player already there?

Can't see it unless we're going for a bench of 3 hookers or Dwyer would have another role and I can't see Brining as disappointing the coaching staff that much!

Todd Carney has proved that point without playing very much

I'd like to think that we are in the market for a marquee signing to strengthen the quality we already have. We have quite a lot of depth in most positions so not much need this season for a knee-jerk/desperation signing.

Seem to be off topic as far as rumours go but hey ho. I still think we need another prop. Our forwards have been outstanding yet again this year but I think to add a bit of depth and competition and the opportunity to give players a rest if the double header weekends continue would be an asset. I'm going to go all Louie Walsh now...someone like a young James Graham. Maybe we're ok with the kids we've got coming through. Dan Murray for example.
