One of the Live Yorkshire things with far too much interest in our present state says the board will review the salaries/playing contracts, I think that could mean anything from releasing to downsizing but almost certainly means economising now that will affect recruitment and retention.
We can downsize as much as we want but ultimately it’s a result based business not a yard sale. If we get rid of to many good plays and replace them with crap we’d go down and I generally believe we won’t come back up I’d imagine we will end up selling Croft for circa 200 - 250k and 1 additional player who will end up going for circa 100k meaning the hole is filled and we can behind to build again

I agree I doubt we'll ever see the light of day again if we go down.

Doesn't quite work like that. We need to find that £300k evey year, not just this year, so we can't just sign more players, unless we cut spend elsewhere. Plus, nobody is paying us 300k for Croft when they know we have to sell and there isn't exactly a bidding war going on. It isn't a silver bullet... it's a band aid for cash flow in the immediate. The hole is this year mainly because of signings and contract extensions. Next year the budget will be knows so will be accounted for! The hole exists because we were told we were getting x and the at changed to y after all contracts and players were signed! I hope you're right about the budget being a known quantity next year but given this years late announcement of less available I wouldn't bet my house on it.
A question now though: Has anyone seen any evidence that IMG are actually doing anything other than making clubs jump through criteria hoops yet?
Anything at all will do, just to show they're still breathing would help!

The 300k reduction will be for the duration of the new TV deal (2 years I think?k so we need to cut 300k this year and next year. Doesn't matter if we know about it. We still need 300k off the bill both years or 600k to come in to cover that spend.

Well Knowing about income in good time is a bit essential of basic planning.
I did wonder if the RFL were pulling a fast one on this.

Unless we get more funding we will go down eventually can’t keep competing with a reduced budget every year

Any Fev players think can make step up, after they lost to London in semi final

The hole is a constant. The 300k reduction will be for the duration of the new TV deal (2 years I think?k so we need to cut 300k this year and next year. Doesn't matter if we know about it. We still need 300k off the bill both years or 600k to come in to cover that spend. Players signed and extensions agreed based on receiving 1.5m Of its knows that it was 1.3 then we wouldn’t have made 1 or 2 of the signings which is how we will manage it moving forward! You've just said we've signed layers to contracts and extensions based on £1.5m and not £1.3m. That means we've signed players for the next two seasons based on £1.5m... so how are we going to manage it moving forward without cancelling contracts or selling players. Either way Brodie would be my choice to raise money. If we need to raise/save £300k by reducing the wage bill and selling players I'd prioritise other players and not Brodie. If we think we'll be applying for that £2 - £2.5 million in the next 12 months then that gives us the funds to have a go with a real 5-year plan and Brodie should be the key part of that for my money. He's the right kind of personality and quality to build around. Give him ownership of the team and let him grow. I'd rather look at other possibilities. Watkins would be first. He's a sellable (not loads) asset and will be on a healthy wage, over 100k and I wouldn't mind betting is over 125k based on our spend. He'll be 33 next year. We can start Wright in his place and bring in a younger and/or cheaper backup replacement. Sneyd is another one. He'll be 33. He won't likely bring in a transfer fee but we could probably move him on a free transfer to remove his wage. He'll be on a health salary. If our wage bill was just over £2 million (as PK said) then the average for 25 players is 80k... so you'd assume Sneyd is on 100k given his status in our team. Atkin could replace him if we've brought in a young hooker to spell Ackers. We could also get a stop gap for a year, maybe a championship player or a player like Will Dagger who can kick goals and be a threat running the ball. Maybe we could do a swap. Possible a player like Richardson from Cas as I imagine we'd be saving in wages there. We'd get a player with a good kicking game who likely needs a new environment. Lafai will be on a good wage since we signed him after a stellar year. He's also 33 at the start of next year. He'd command a fee and shave off one of our bigger wages. There are options in the Championship to replace him, like Hodson, who may take their shot, or a stop gap player like Thornley from Wigan. Nene would be a shout and he'd be cheaper than Lafia so still a saving plus a transfer fee. All of those moves would go a long way towards 300k and we don't lose a 26 year old ex-MoS who we have a chance to build around in 12 months... or sell from a stronger position in the future. There were other options like Walmsley from Halifax to replace Sio. Isn't he 33 next year? I mean he's a very good player but if we have to make cuts then I'd be looking at well paid 33 year olds. Surely Walmsley scoring 30 tries for a team that finished 8th is worth a look. He can also kick goals.

I believe Brierley has a meeting at the stadium today to discuss his future. Good knows what that means!

I believe Brierley has a meeting at the stadium today to discuss his future. Good knows what that means! Well the board were quite clear about their closing down bogof sale so I think it's pretty clear, especially when you say meet our valuation and talent is up for grabs.
Will they hold a shareholders meeting to discuss these things ?
As an aside it may be an attempt to offload Brierley to stave off Brodie's departure. My guess is they may both be on the way out and Callum will be next.

And we will be on a one way trip to the champ

Pretty awkward situation when both Croft and Brierley don’t want to go yet are both being shopped about against their wishes

I'll try to reserve my judgement until we hear something more concrete, but it sounds like we're up the creek without a paddle. It's sad, if so, but we haven't attracted enough fans and the RFL have delivered the coup de grace. Hope something turns up.
