Any truth in the Brierley, Lafai and Partington rumours? We are in for a grim winter. What rumours? I've just put all 3 names in Twitter and there's literally one post on there with someone asking "Lafai swap for Macdonald?" Let me guess.... Facebook? |

I think 99.9% of stuff is just pure fantasy based on nothing at all.
The amount of names being mentioned on here we'll be starting next 3 season with 3 players.😁

Can’t see anyone going after Croft we still have to field a team for one and if we let anymore go we might aswell shut up shop as we’d go into preseason with like 10 players 😂

As with the initial Dupree news rumours will flood out. Hull apparent wanted three of our players then. Other teams wanted other players. We just need to wait and see. I wouldn't be selling Brodie though.
If we are 200k-300k down in funding for the year then selling Brodie doesn't really solve it does it? It's a one off fee. Long term there needs to be that reduction in spending across the club, whether that's player wages (I know Brodie will go some way towards that) or other areas and programmes, or we need to find addition sources of money to make up the deficit. Selling Brodie isn't a silver bullet. I'd prioritise removing other players from the wage bill before Brodie and see what we can do as a club in the next 12 months. We need to keep him IMO, as if we want to attract more fans and boost sponsorship opportunities we need to be making the playoffs and build some consistency. Maybe it is a case of getting this funding in and having a real go for 3-5 years with the playing budget and see what we can build.
As for he next 12 months... wtf is going on with the 22% food an d beverages? I don't get that, surely it's in a contact. When the stadium is sorted out and we can apply for additional funding that will bring in a lot of money, which according to the email is £2m - 2.5m. There is also the expansion of the marketing team. PK said we have 400k in assest unsold. All of these things can flip the script somewhat. If we need to shave the bill this year that fine, but not Brodie for me

No one is going to pay a transfer fee for a Dixon or Addy, any player 32 plus. That’s the parameters the Board work to. If we get 250k for Croft with a saving of 250k in wages per year that’s a good deal. |

I never said to sell payers for a fee. I said let them go for free to get them off the wage bill. As I said, I'd rather lose older players like Sneyd and Watkins than Croft. Especially if we may have £2-2.5m coming in in 12 months time and the 22% gets sorted out. We need to lower the wage bill, not necessarily bring in a one-off fee. A wage bill reduction is there every year.

Well, maybe those rumours, if they were that, about Byrne is true. Wigan have signed Thompson, they signed Dupree, have Havard under contract, and extended Ellis, Mago, and Cooper. Plus have Hill and Nsemba in the wings.
