You all trust Rowley that is his problem to sort, Paul King is employed to balance the books. I don’t have strong feelings to either mate but rowley could also feel pissed of with the club selling his best player

The news from the club was disappointing yesterday. Some of it was concerning around the Stadium tenure. I assume, or would hope, that the fundraising / ownership scheme money has been ringfenced by the club for the purpose it was intended in allowing attempts to get further funding in. If it hasn't been then those that contributed have been betrayed. I think some of the content also explains why the price of Season Tickets has increased and more so why the windows for renewing at the cheaper rate or for keeping your seat are much shorter. The club wanted the money in early, although I am not sure that has been the case.
I have mixed feelings on the Brodie Croft situation. He was outstanding in his first season but had far from the same impact this year, teams had got wise to him. He is however a great talent. Irrespective of the financial situation there would have been offers coming in. Even in the best of circumstances a club of any stature would look at a good offer if it mean't they could recruit to strengthen the overall squad. It may be the case that in Salford's position it saves the clubs long term future. It would be a loss but not as much as the club going bust.
The club have said they are sticking to the recruitment they have carried out so far and given his tweets of the past few months, even yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Hastings is limbering up for a return.
The reaction of many people is poor but reflective of the over the top, melodramatic response to anything these days. If you are a genuine fan you will still be there come what may. Although no trophies have been won, the club have had their most successful period for decades over the past five years. Part of that probably explains the response! We may take a step backwards, but ups and downs are part and parcel of being a fan and a fact of life in general.
People should also look at the wider picture, the whole of Rugby League itself is at a tipping point both financially and in its governance, the quality of the officials and the overall product on the pitch. It's like a free for all at times, with forward passes, blatant gamesmanship, markers not square, the top teams getting away with flopping on to slow the play the ball. It's a mess to watch.
The only reason I still do is because for fifty years Salford, through thick and thin, have been and will remain, my team!

I've got another 16 years to get to the half century but I'm going nowhere fast. I don't think any other set of fans (bar those in the lower leagues) have to put up with as much sh*te as we do and we're generally as loyal as anyone out there. I'll be absolutely devastated if Brodie goes, like I was with Jacko, but if it has to happen to keep our heads above water then so be it. I feel sick thinking about seeing him in the shirt of any other SL team. I just pray that the stadium situation is sorted out soon and we manage to get a governing body in place that is remotely capable of organising a pi$$ up in a brewery. Our board deserve more, the coaching set-up & players deserve more and the fans deserve more.

I was impressed with Nene but does he really want to be over here would be my question.

Very good signing that can see him and Austin linking back up for next year

Very good signing that can see him and Austin linking back up for next year Really hope we don’t go for Austin. My only concern here is we desperately need props and with the lack of them here you’d think we’d look abroad but we only have 1 spot maybe 2 if Croft leaves

Looking around the probable halfback departures from Super League the likes of Austin, Lino, Cust stand out. Can see Brierley moving into 6 and us picking up a new fullback also.

I'd love lino to come, but will he have a season in championship with wakey to see if they can get straight back up, they got a new backer so think he'll pay lino whatever he wants to stay

Lino signed a new contract without a relegation release clause. Another player did too. Can't remember who it was.
Austin is probably the best of a bad bunch from the UK that are available. On his day he's quality but getting consistency from him is the issue. I still think selling Croft would be a bad idea. There are other contracts for older players we could look to move on from, okay no transfer fee, but the issue is that the wage bill needs to be reviewed. I'd rather move on others than Croft, at least for the upcoming season. If we can generate new income streams over the next 12 npkbths then greagm we could make potentially 120k from running out own lottery. We need to be playing decent rugby and generate interest to get more bins on seats and attract more sponsorship and sell hospitality etc, all of that comes with performances and challenging for the top 6 and that means keeping Croft. Watkins is immense but will be on good money and is much older. We could play Wright and Stone in the SR and being in a cheaper replacement to cut the wage bill. We could move on from Sneyd who'll be 33 and on decent money and bring in a younger player from here or abroad who is cheaper. Atkin could even play there or a utility player like Will Dagger at 6 (who can kick goals) and give Croft responsibility for directing the team. In his first season who came good when Sneyd was out for a couple of weeks. He really came into his own and that was the stat of his run for MoS.

Any truth in the Brierley, Lafai and Partington rumours?
We are in for a grim winter.
