No Super League Club makes a profit our 500k loss last year was the best result the difference is we don’t have a benefactor to backfill the loss. I’m not fussed if we cash in, needs must.

I just miss the days where we talked about RL on forums...

When the Croft to Leigh Rumour surfaced, I said I would reserve my judgement.. Having received the email from the club I understand the position they are in and feel they are being as transparent as they can. They have been open that they will sell if the right offer comes in.(but that has always been the case with any player right?) Yes I am frustrated and have loved seeing us being a respected team on the pitch in the last few years, but if its a choice of Keep Croft and no more Salford in a years time, or sell to fight another day, then as much as I love watching Brodie in the red shirt its really a no brainer. Some of the stuff on social media again today is going too far, so many with short memories, and the personal attacks on people who have put their life and sole in to trying to make the club successful, is somewhat a reflection of how society has become. Whatever side of the fence you sit on and regardless if you feel they have been successful, the guys just as JW before them deserve the respect for putting their hand up when nobody else would. Regardless of what the future holds they will always have my thanks for what they have done. Great to still have this place to sensible and reasonable debate as a nice break from the social media circus so thanks all We may go down, we have been down before, but Salford rugby will never die!

One part that is interesting is the email says they have already signed players based on what they thought we’d have so we could now end up with a top pack next year just no half’s 😂

On costs. I think it’s clear the club doesn’t generate revenue to meet its costs. That’s why it makes me laugh when people say why aren’t we using Dupree money, Croft money on signing x y z - largely because I think it’s going on the costs of operating the club. That’s not the best but I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t come out and just say that? I’d rather them be seen as desperate then deceptive There’s a fine balance for sports teams to tread in terms of being open and honest with fans and their community and operating as a business and taking commercial sensitivity seriously. If at every difficult financial period of which there’ll have been half a dozen this year they sent out an email saying the clubs skint unless they can raise X how does that impact recruitment of new players and retention of existing players. If you’re a player and the club keeps going on about being skint wouldn’t you be looking for the nearest exit. Also the other clubs then smell blood and start dropping their offers for players because they know you’re skint and will be desperate.

If we only had a fraction of what Jim Ratcliffe wants to pay the Glazers for Man United we would be set up for life , that’s what’s so frustrating.

Fatalism is not a happy place but where us SRD fans spend most of our lives.

Would argue that every player in Super League has their price but given the size of our club, along with the reduction in sky money then it seems departures are almost certain. As good as Brodie is there will always be players available who need the chance to play and develop.
If we are able to cover any financial shortfall with sales then that is the position we are in. We've been here before and we'll be there again.

300,000 for Croft. See how long it takes till it goes like the Dupree money and disappears into the abyss

Looks like Croft to Leeds a done deal.
Hopefully the fans realise that it’s likely Croft was told we needed to move him on (as was probably the case with Dupree)
That first season of Croft was amazing. Some great memories.
Next season looking like it’s going to a bit of a slog!

There are some pessimistic posters on here, where are the Rowley lovers?? We lose a great player but need to then find another - change is inevitable especially at this club. JJR has been strangely quiet the past 48 hours.

JJR has been strangely quiet the past 48 hours. You could say pessimistic but I’d say it’s delusional to think we could sell Croft and find a decent replacement with ease. As you say there’s nothing we can do it has to happen but the playing squad will definitely be weaker
