I don't understand why people can't see what a brilliant, brilliant signing Josh Mantellato would be. You just have to see past the fact that Salford need a centre, and he's not a centre; that positions 11, 12 and 13 pretty much pick themselves, and he's not a forward; that the club already has four wingers; that he's not better than any of them; that he's probably not even as good as some of them (would you play him ahead of Carney or Evalds?); that he's pretty slow for a winger, and Salford are already well catered for in the lack of pace department; that he's no better a goalkicker than Gareth O'Brien; that he'd count on the quota; that Salford likely don't have a quota spot left after signing Lama Tasi; that he'd take a chunk of Salford's limited salary cap; that that limited money would be better spent on a centre or a back rower. Pah! These are just details. Sign! Him! Up! Sign! Him! Up! Exactly what I meant when i said he's useless PS I see Albert Kelly has signed for Hull F. C. According to Wiki Pedia

If people wonder about Billy McConnachie you just had to watch him perform against New Zealand to know why I said I'd kill to see him in Salford colours. Also the Scotland hooker Liam Hood looks like a world beater, what I wouldn't do to see him playing for Salf, oh wait

Liam Hood was an error - enough said on that one.

Shame, because he's turning into a really good hooker.

I always liked Hood as a player but there must be a reason for him being passed around like a hot potato. In the space of a few seasons he's played at Leeds,Salford, some one horse town in oz, Swinton and Leigh. Think he spent a short time at another Yorkshire club as well but not 100% sure. Keighley seems to come to mind for some reason. Feel free to correct me

I think when we talk about rumours it's as well to point out that the "bad element" should have been the ones being pilloried and not the people getting rid of them. It was generally reported as SRD with problems not the players involved.

Good player but was best friends with Hock and everything that comes with that. Turning up to training drunk and having a real bad attitude seems to have led to his downfall.

Or it certainly shouldn't have done.

Could be a few Bulls players available soon, anyone know if there's a likely signing we might make?

Kris Welham has been mentioned a couple of times on here and I know he's just signed for Huddersfield but always thought Lee Gaskell was wasted playing in the lower leagues.

TBH Welham would be a step back - reminded me of a cut price Sean Gleeson but even worse on defence .
Omari Caro ( Centre ) would be the only one I would consider - scored twice as many try's as Welham ( 14- 7 ) when they both were last At Hull KR

I think we just have to accept it and move on. However, if Salford is going to go all Jimmy Savile and have its way with the comatose body of a once proud club, Jason Walton ticks a couple of boxes in that he provides a reasonable level of cover at both centre and second row. Hopefully, the Bradford situation will be resolved and it won't come to that.

I'm not hinting at anything they're in deep doo doo and some players may want leave and it would be nice to know if any of them fitted the bill. But if you're wanting me to be sympathetic that's hard because of some posts I've read on other forums when the salary cap issue was a problem for us. And Mr Green's role in our doo doo shouldn't be underestimated.

But if you're wanting me to be sympathetic that's hard because of some posts I've read on other forums when the salary cap issue was a problem for us. And Mr Green's role in our doo doo shouldn't be underestimated. It's true that some of the rhetoric we heard from fans of other clubs during the salary cap issue was over the top, but they aren't necessarily representative of all fans. A fair few thought it highlighted how daft and unworkable the cap is. It doesn't mean we should behave the same way as the moaners either. I find it easy to be sympathetic to those people who have supported a club for decades and may now be seeing it disappear in front of their eyes and through no fault of their own. Marc Green's role in our "doo doo" was minimal. It's easy to say Green was a grass (and, to complete the set up, the person in line to take over at Bradford is called Mark Lawn - don't let anyone tell you intelligent design doesn't exist), but the RFL were already investigating Salford's salary cap before Marc Green's e-mail came out. Salford's descent into doo doo was entirely down to the actions of the person or persons who thought it was a good idea to sign an average player on an inflated wage, agree to pay part of it through a hidden contract, fail to actually pay that part and then allow it all to be made public in court.

You can't help but have sympathy for Bradford supporters ,there but for the grace of God....... As regards Green he raised the profile of the investigation and meant it had greater scrutiny than might otherwise have been the case but,yes you're quite right that the real comedians were those who thought the payment method was clever.
