Can't blame players for wanting to secure their future at a club that's at least going to be here next year. Some smaller clubs such as ours are still on the cliff's edge. you just need to have a look at the latest comments from Blease in League Express, id say ours is probably one of the more secure clubs at the moment, we dont rely on income other than the sky money others relay heavily on Match day income in order to balance the books, because we dont have much income on match days we are affected less. You just need to read comments from Pearson and Hudgell both of which have either asked players to take pay cuts or suggested they wont commit any more of their own money until they know whats going on. We are one of 3 clubs that are currently paying players and staff 100% of their wages.

Yes but if Sky money stops because games can’t restart soon enough and Government support doesn’t materialise then we cease to exist. We don’t have any financial reserves or backers so the longer this goes on the less secure our players are. But you are right, it’s good that we can pay everyone for April and we are good at least in the short term.

Every club would go under if the sky money stops lets not make any bones about that.
pretty much every club loses money at the moment, that loss would be 1.8m more if the sky money stops and not many backers will be willing to put their hand in the their pockets to throw that kinda money down the drain

That would cost clubs a few hundred thousand rather than millions- the bigger clubs/those with backers could possibly bridge that or arrange funding to cover. I think we (and others like Wakefield) might struggle to cover even a small gap in funding like that without some outside help. If as you say the Sky money went completely for this season then yes, we are all in trouble and semi-professional rugby beckons.

We’ve got 12 off contract according to Watson in League Express. Does anyone know who they all are? From memory and the list on Zero Tackle I’ve got:
Evalds (Cas) Dudson (Cats) Lussick Sarge Chamberlain Greenwood Inu Johnson McCarthy Welham
Loan: Ikahihifo Roberts
Any others?

Zero Tackle lists Sarge as off contract - not saying it’s right but can’t find anything to say it is wrong. It would make sense only signing Brown on a one year deal. That leaves one more. I’d hazard a guess that it was either Jones or Ormandroyd.

Another big rebuilding job on the cards. Ian Watson must be getting fed up of doing this every season.

He'll be next. This must be wearing him out. Going nowhere and he's too good for this.

Though having said that it must be a factor in why he's such a good coach.

According to paul king on the bet Fred interview last night there will be a few announcements over the next few weeks. I think he meant current players signing new deals. Only name mentioned was Mossop re-signing is close (apparently that has been in the papers)

I'd hope we try and replace Dudson ASAP, personally I'd not be upset if we went for Ben flower and I'd try and get Greenwood from Wigan as he seems to be on the outer.

Flower offers nothing but penalties and should be avoided imo.

Highly unlikely but Kane Evans is being touted around Super League.
Would be unstoppable.
