He is not leaving Wigan at least not this season Peet rates him even through if you look a lot of the Wigan fans hate him for some reason Wigan pay well too so the deal has to be right even if Wigan would release him. You’d think at some point there has to be a tipping point between getting paid well and being a starting prop every game (which is likely with us) would mean the player might want away. He’s 31 now so, I suspect, that point is coming soon

But Byrne is a regular in the Wigan squad he’s just been in the grand final winning team so he’s getting plenty of game time the only reason he would leave is for better money which I believe hull have offered him we’re nowhere near affording him!

There’s abit of talk hudds will let a few go to give some cap space to Robinson. They have a lot of props and they’ve signed 2 more so could be something in that

I think you are also missing the point. Yes the club are on the up and its great to have some real positivity about the place. However, the top 3 will not let you bust their cartel. If you think its a matter of not aiming high or having a bit more of a positive mindset, your deluded. Take your blinkers off and look at who runs the game and how its always been stacked so the top 3 benefit and always win. Personally I'd hate to support either of those 3 and the constant winning in that way would just feel hollow. Jeez I wanted Hull KR to win last night so much. To have had 3 of the 4 teams in the semis for this never having won it and wigan still to win is gutting. Anyway, bigger macro issues with the game and apologies for derailing the thread. Anyway new props This is actually embarrassing off course they have advantages like we do over say Swinton! It’s the clubs job to improve which we are doing but to just bitch about how unfair the league is is pointless There is actually and absolutely no need to headline your views with the first part of your sentence.
No one is saying there aren't advantages in the normal run of things but there are other systemic ones that ensure the status quo continues. It's in the way organisations work systemically that adds to the run of the mill advantages and maintains things as they are. Yes, you look at the things under your control and change them if necessary and improve your part as best you can but to insist that's all there is to it and everything will be hunky dory is to ignore how things work to preserve the system. And it also ignore facts, history and self-preservation.
Good debate, though a bit political for my my tastes!

Think we’d have a better shot with Harvey hill Although alot is made of props on here Wigan are far more likely to keep 27 of them on their books just to avoid an injury crisis than they are to let them go.
The effect of props was easy to see in some ways at the GF but in this case Props weren't why they won the game.
Thompson had a blinder in all areas of the game though!

Unfortunately they can’t as there’s a salary cap unless there all happy to take massive under to win trophies which a lot might

Wigan will have their biggest earners on the marquee signings which is 2 players and I’m sure if you bring up local players some of their salary doesn’t count towards the cap which is how some of these clubs can spend big
It would be very interesting to know if the owners pulled out can these clubs sustain themselves without the money being put in

So let’s say you have 10,000 you can definitely have marquee players the salary cap is really low

Some of the clubs probably have their owners putting the marquee money in and whatever else to keep them afloat … we can do a lot with our resources it just the decisions we make on how to improve

So, no new signings then?
It seems a long time coming, I hope it's worth the wait!
If we delay any longer they won't even have a preseason!
